March 2011 Archives

There are some brands, like Mario Badescu, that seem to make products we instantly love. Their Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater is one of those never-fail-us products that we can’t imagine starting the day without.

The MB description mentions it can be used for just about anything:

“Simply formulated with fragrant Herbal Extracts and Rosewater for a pleasant, pick me up for dehydrated, tight and uncomfortable skin. Spray your day and night creams for a boost of hydration or use it to set make-up or spray on dry hair throughout the day. Safe for all skin types. Gentle, non-irritating.”

We’ve always turned to rosewater-infused products for a soothing effect on our skin. They’re perfect for dry situations (especially when traveling on a plane, or in the colder months). But our absolute favorite use for this Facial Spray is as a finishing touch over a freshly made-up face. Thanks to that specific tip from a professional makeup artist, we never walk out of the house without it!

It sets your makeup perfectly, helping it look fresh, non-powdery and youthfully dewy. It smells faintly of roses, which is nice, and the cool mist in the morning is a nice little pick-me-up! For just $7, it’s absolutely a must-have in your beauty product collection. $7,
Benefit-Foamingly-Clean-Facial-Wash.jpgIf you’re in the market for a new cleanser that really works, then listen up. We recently came in contact with the brand-new Benefit Foamingly Clean Facial Wash, and you know what? Our skincare regimen has gotten a complete overhaul.

This delightful, pearlescent cleanser strips away impurities and leaves behind gorgeous, glowing skin in just seconds. We’ve taken to using it daily in the shower, especially after a long and grueling workout, to really clean out the gunk from our pores and ensure no unsightly blemishes will appear.

This cleanser is best on normal-combination skin, so if you’re on the oilier or drier side, you may want to skip it. But our skin actually tends to dry out quite a bit in colder temperatures, and the creamy texture has helped to bring moisture back to our visage thanks to the product’s tri-radiance complex: a blend of ingredients that capture and maintain water on the skin’s surface and develop the skin’s reserves of water.

Plus, the packaging is just too pretty for words! We love the mint green bottle with the faux cork cap — it’s minimalist and at the same time totally chic.

Now, you may be thinking a cleanser like this must cost upwards of $50+. Well, you would be (thankfully!) very wrong! Benefit Foamingly Clean Facial Wash retails for just $21 at How can you beat that?
There’s almost nothing more annoying in the beauty world than the following scenario: You spent the past 20 minutes perfectly manicuring your nails and toes. Base coat, two coats of color, top coat, dry. Just when you think your nails have fully dried, you go about your business, only to smudge your freshly painted nails on the first thing you touch. ::insert aggravated grunting, scoffing and the occasional profanity here::

Thanks to Essie’s Quick-E drying drops, you can say a perfect-nail goodbye to not-dry-enough nails. Even with our fast drying top coat, we have to wait about 10 or 15 minutes to feel remotely secure enough to handle anything. One or two drops of Essie’s oily drops to top off our at-home manicure (a minute after you put on your top coat) is all you need to get you going in just a few minutes. Place the oil drop at the line of your cuticle and let the oil drip all the way down your nail. Though the product mentions you’re good to go in seconds, we’d wait about 2-3 minutes before moving forward.

It’ll definitely be one of those products that you just can’t live without! $14.95,
Palmer's-Cocoa-Butter-Formula-Lip-Butter.jpgWant smooth, buttery soft lips that stay that way for hours and hours? Then you simply must invest in a tube of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter.

Yes, the name of this product is unbelievably long. But you know what? We’ll let that slide, because ever since we’ve started slicking it on our pout, we’ve noticed a vast reduction in the amount of chapping and dryness.

The soft and smooth feel is thanks to a host of good-for-the-lips ingredients, including Vitamin E, and petrolatum. And let’s not forget Palmer’s cocoa seed butter, which helps to moisturize and nourish lips even if they’ve been wreaked havoc on by this horrible winter that just doesn’t seem to want to end!

And that’s not all. The taste of dark chocolate and cherry is so luscious, it’s all we can do not to keep refreshing our lips every 10 minutes. Luckily, the formula lasts much longer than that, so we only have to reapply once or twice a day.

In a nutshell? This is one dessert we’re unbelievably happy to snack on.
