Molton-Brown-Relaxing-Yuan-Zhi-Mist.jpgThe hours we spend sleeping are some of the most important for our skin. It’s the time for our body to repair damage done during our waking hours, and those hours can really make our skin look and feel its best. We’ve compiled a few tips and tricks for you to put to good use while you sleep.

Use a sleep mist.
If you’re one of those people who just finds it extremely difficult to fall asleep when your head hits the pillow, try a sleep mist. Studies have shown that if you get between 7-9 hours of sleep a night, your skin looks dramatically better … so why not help the process along? We love Molton Brown Relaxing Yuan Zhi Mist ($38 at moltonbrown.com), which seriously creates lights out within 15 minutes, tops.

Use a good lip balm.
Prevent chapped, cracked, dry and an otherwise unsightly pout by slicking on a good lip balm before bed. Look for one with Vitamin E, which really works to moisturize the skin, and for one that stays put for over 4 hours. That way, your lips won’t feel too dry when you wake up in the morning.

Drink a glass of water before bed.
The best way to hydrate your skin? Good old-fashioned H20, of course! A glass of water before bed can really start to bring the moisture out from within, giving you a gorgeously glowy appearance.

Wear night cream.
While you should wear moisturizer during the day, too, look for a heavier one to wear while you’re in dreamland. A good night cream erases the damage of the day, making skin firmer and more resilient, and thus easier to face the challenges of daytime hours!
rihanna-brown-hair-08242011.jpg For a girl who changes her haircolor more often than most of us change purses, you’d think we’d seen it all from Rihanna. Over the years we’ve seen this Barbados beauty sport blond, black, orange, red and even two-tone shades of haircolor that have made us long for her daring sense of style. Then this past week she popped up with a shade of golden brown hair that is so simple and tame (by her standards) that we’re a little bit stunned — yet still impressed!
Maybelline-Great-Lash-40th-Anniversary-Mascara.jpgGuess what? Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is turning 40 this year. Can you believe how good it still looks? Seriously, we hope we look as good as this mascara does when we hit the big 4-0.

In any case, Maybelline decided to team up with three of the biggest names in fashion—Max Azria of BCBG, Tracy Reese and Vivienne Tam—to design custom tubes of the tried and true cult favorite. The result is the tubes you see pictured above, each one reflecting that designer’s aesthetic and made even more special since they’ve all used Maybelline for the makeup at their past runway shows.

And here’s a fun fact: fashion designer Lilly Pulitzer’s bright and cheery clothing originally inspired the pink and green tube back in the 70’s!

Here’s the best part. These tubes will be available in September at Target stores nationwide! They retail for $6.99 each. Be sure to snap them up when they hit the shelves—we know we’re going to!
dove_hair_smh.jpgDove’s Nourishing Oil Care Conditioner doesn’t smell that great, and its cheap yellow appearance was a bit off-putting, but I was excited by its promises to “revive dry, rough and frizzy hair” with it’s weightless nutri-oils. I didn’t notice an instant change, but overall my hair seems to be responding well to it so I’ll keep using it until it’s time to try a new conditioner.
The-Body-Shop-Macadamia-Body-Butter-Duo.jpgWhile winter tends to wreak more havoc on our skin than the summer months, we still tend to get a little dehydrated by August. Chalk it up to laying on the beach and sunning ourselves (don’t worry, we’re wearing SPF!). Thankfully, we’ve got The Body Shop Macadamia Body Butter Duo by our side for these trying times.

This tub contains two moisturizers that keep dry skin at bay. Unscrew the cap to find them neatly divided in half! On one side, a light cream. On the other, a rich cream. Both work to banish every flake of dryness from your body.

And as if the fact that the two moisturizers here really do turn even the driest skin into a nourished, moisturized oasis, they smell fantastic! They’re infused with the scent of macadamia, which is subtly nutty and totally delicious.

We double dare you to try this one.

The Body Shop Macadamia Body Butter Duo retails for $18 at thebodyshop.com.
