Sun protection is of the utmost importance. And if you really want to keep your skin looking and feeling its best, you should forego the tanning and invest in a self-tanner or two! Below, our favorites.

Best-Self-Tanners-Image-1.jpgBest scent: LORAC SelfTANtalizer Body Bronzing Gradual
A rich vanilla scent keeps this from smelling like most other self-tanners on the market—in other words, bad. The lotion also creates a gradual, natural-looking glow.

Best luxury self-tanner: Dior Dior Bronze Self-Tanner Natural Glow Face
Want to look radiant and sun-kissed in just one hour? Then this gel-cream, formulated with Dior’s “ph Bronze Perfect,” is definitely the one for you.

Best organic: Josie Maran Argan Self Tanning Cream
Caffeine molecules, sugar beets and sugar cane combine with Josie’s often-used argan oil to produce a self tanner that, along with Vitamin E, is super fantastic for the body.

Best-Self-Tanners-Image-2.jpgBest self tanner towelettes
Okay, we have a confession to make. We couldn’t pick just one in this category! Both the Kate Somerville Somerville360 Tanning Towelettes ($48 at cusp.com) and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Glow Pad ($32 at blissworld.com) give just enough color to make you look totally sunkissed and gorgeous.

Best-Self-Tanners-Image-3.jpgBest technology and innovation: TEMPTU AIR Pod Face Tan
The innovative, fast-drying and long-lasting TEMPTU system delivers gorgeous buildable color.
$45 at sephora.com

Best name & packaging: Too Faced Tanning Bed in a Tube
While we don’t promote tanning beds in real life, we are in love with the name of this product! And don’t you just want to be the silhouetted lovely lady on the front of the tube?

Best for legs: Lancome FLASH BRONZER Tinted Self-Tanning Leg Gel
This vitamin-fortified self-tanner tints and bronzes while contouring, hydrating and smoothing your legs. What more could you ask for?

blastednails_smh.jpgMeet the new collection of ‘blasted’ colors by OPI, reminiscent of Katy Perry’s super-popular ‘shattered’ OPI lacquer, that hit stores earlier this year and of which Katy’s mom is a big fan.

Have you tried this trend yet? Were you happy with the results? Now that summer’s here, it’s time to try it again — especially with these lighter colors like teal and blue. We’d pair the teal with a neon lavender underneath (once applied, the blasted effect shows off the original nail color) and the blue with bright yellow. And here’s a cool bonus, this could be especially useful when you don’t want a chip from playing beach volleyball to be glaringly obvious.

Neutrogena-Naturals-Lip-Balm.jpgVitamin E truly works wonders. It nourishes, it moisturizes, it conditions … in other words, it makes every body part feel extremely baby soft. So is it any wonder that we’ve fallen in love with Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm?

This unassuming little white tube contains one of the best lip balms we’ve yet to come across … and, yes, it’s formulated with the aforementioned Vitamin E! It moisturizes and smooths the lips for hours on end with absolutely no need to reapply, even keeping your pout soft while you sleep during the night! (No easy feat, believe us.)

This balm is also formulated with Vitamin E bionutrients, which heal dry skin and keep lips looking healthy. In other words? No chapping allowed.

Neutrogena Naturals Lip Balm retails for $2.99 at neutrogena.com.
sofitel_smh.jpgYou know you do it, but are the free hotel toiletries really worth sneaking into your bag? Thanks to an old cushy day job, I had the… luxury of staying at some nice hotels with even nicer amenities. In this column, I explore the brands different hotels have chosen to partner up with and where the products place on my ‘stuff it in your carry on?’ meter.

Sofitel in Los Angeles provides generous portions of L’Occitane products, I just didn’t want them. The bottles and caps felt cheap and flimsy and the products themselves did not leave a lasting impression. They did the job, but I didn’t take them with me.

Steal-o’-meter rating: 2 out of 5. Check out their full product line at loccitane.com
Celebrities-Green-Eyeshadow-Corners.jpgOkay, you caught us. We’re talking about January Jones again! But this time, we discovered she’s not alone in starting a new beauty trend. She and Romi Klinger have a pretty cool new eyeshadow trend in common. They’ve both been spotted wearing bold teal eyeshadow. But that’s not all, they both wore it in the inner corners of their eyes at recent events!

We’re totally loving this look. It’s such a new, fun way to wear such a bold color. How cool that celebs have been sweeping it into the inner corners instead of just across the entire lid. And the fact that it’s such a bright, juicy hue? Totally in love.
