loccitanefull_smh.jpgWhen it was announced last fall that J.Crew stores would begin stocking L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Hand Cream (a.k.a. Creme Mains with Beurre De Karite), beauty insiders labeled it an odd decision on J.Crew’s part due to L’Occitane’s classic image and J.Crew’s recent efforts to be more youthful and eclectic.

Having finally used the product while in line at J.Crew in Tyson’s Corner Galleria recently, I would call it an odd decision on J.Crew’s part due to L’Occitane’s hand cream smelling like diaper ointment.

“The quality of the moisturizer is well worth smelling like old lady or baby powder for a few minutes,” a reviewer argued on drugstore.com. Nice try, Sweet Merry Mayhem, but we’re not buying. Cool username though.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get past the smell. When I put on a hand lotion, I value moisturizing and fragrance almost equally… but more on that to come next week.

Jo-Malone-Red-Roses-Home-Candle.jpgThe most luxurious, most heady, most divine candle around? It’s most definitely the Jo Malone Red Roses Home Candle.

We’ve long been enamored of all that Jo Malone has to offer. The body creams, the fragrances, the candles … all so utterly divine, we’ve basically cloaked our entire apartment in the line. But there’s something undeniably special about the Red Roses fragrance in all its forms — and, most importantly, as a candle.

The scent is powerful but not overpowering, sensual but not over the top. It envelops the room without taking over, and leaves behind a scent of roses that can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone.

The fragrance itself is comprised of seven different types of roses from around the world — but it also incorporates crushed violet leaves, lemon and spearmint for an aroma that’s at once invigorating and incredibly sensuous.

And the jar? It’s simple but not stark — the clear glass jar, filled with white wax, looks so beautiful atop a vanity or dressing table.

The Jo Malone Red Roses Home Candle retails for $65 at jomalone.com.

A Beautiful Life Honey’Do Shampoo
We have a confession to make. The honey that comes in a bear-shaped bottle at the grocery store? We buy it just because it’s cute. And this shampoo, also in an adorable bear-shaped bottle? What could be better in your shower?

We hate writing posts like this, but what’s going on with Esmee Denters’ hair? Her signature straight bangs and wavy layers are being subjected to fake shades of blonde and crimping! She needs to go back to her old look (far right), which was subtly sexy and much prettier.

We recommend Esmee get a bottle of this No Frizz styling cream, and quick.

Watch her Love Dealer video with Justin Timberlake below for a look back at her once-lovely locks and flawless natural makeup including stunning eyelashes. What do you think?
