Beth Behrs attended the ‘Monsters University’ movie premiere with milkmaid braids and a classic, girl-next-door, dewy look. mark Celebrity Makeup Artist Jamie Greenberg shared exactly how she created Beth’s dewy complexion, “We wanted to go for clean, dewy skin with a touch of pink for this event. I gave Beth’s skin a perfect base by using mark Get a Tint Tinted Moisturizer Lotion SPF 15. Next, I applied mark Touch & Glow Shimmer Cream Cubes All Over Face Palette to create a healthy, subtle glow and layered mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Cheeky for some extra warmth. Finally, I applied mark Save the Day Anti-Acne Concealer Stick and mark Matte-Nificent Oil-Absorbing Powder to Beth’s T-zone, treating any imperfections and reducing shine.” Keeping with the natural theme, Jamie went for a shiny and light gloss coating for Beth’s lips. “Adding the final touch to Beth’s gorgeous look, I applied mark Juice Gems Squeeze On Lip Gloss in Snow Peach for a nude, glossy finish.”

In contrast to her lighter, more natural, cheeks and lips Jamie gave Beth a bold eye look, “I started on Beth’s eyes by applying mark Please Hold Eye Primer to create a strong base. Next, I used mark I-Mark Wet/Dry Eye Shadow in Luvstruck in the creases of her eyes and mark On the Dot Bold Eye Color Compact (burgundy shade) on the outsides of her eyes and under her lash lines. I added mark Keep It Going Longwear Eyeliner & Shadow in Industria (purple shade) as eyeliner, and mark Keep It Going Longwear Eyeliner & Shadow in Entourage (black shade) to line her upper lash lines. I finished the look with one layer of mark Lash All You Want High-Volume Mascara in Black and one layer of YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Mascara in Burgundy.”

While your face can’t miss what its never had, you certainly will have no excuse not to at least try out a face mist by the end of this post. Why am I such a face mist advocate? Before I knew that a face mist is similar in nature to a toner, infuses nutrients into the skin, and can even help set makeup, I was not a mist-believer. Surely it was another hyped up product that would provide minimal results, I thought.

After testing out the featured five face mists, I slowly began changing my opinion of face mists. I began using the Skyn Iceland Artic Face Mist and fell hard for the refreshing feel of the spray on my face at the end of a hot day. I took Jurlique’s Rosewater Balancing Mist with me when I was traveling to help combat dry and dull skin, the scent providing a little aromatherapy for me. I even started keeping the Mario Badescu Facial Spray in my refrigerator in the summer months.

I started to notice the actual skin care benefits, like the extra glow that L’occitane Immortelle Brightening Face Mist created for my skin at the end of a long, stressful day. By the time I confirmed those makeup setting rumors, my collection expanded to five face mists, including my most recent antioxidant-packed discovery, the Spadet Nutrient Rich Facial Spray. What started as what I believed to be a skin care product fad trial turned into a refreshing, skin enhancing experience, leaving me to conclude that you all need at least one face mist in your skin care routine this summer.

I am pretty partial to Yes To’s beauty product line, I’ve been a regular user of various Yes to Blueberries and Yes to Cucumbers products for years. But I was really excited when I saw the Yes to Grapefruit Even Skin Tone Moisturizer with SPF 15 at my local target. I’m still hooked on my mark See Things Clearly Brightening Moisturizer, however it doesn’t have SPF in it, so I needed something with a protection factor for the spring and summer months. Yes to Grapefruit’s lineup of products claims to “correct and repair uneven skin tone for a brighter, more glowing complexion,” and with my fairly limited test period I have to say my skin looks great and feels adequately protected when I’m out and about in the sun. As a heads up, I checked out the Yes to Grapefruit facial scrub, with pleasant results, as well — Needless to say I am definitely saying “yes” to grapefruit!

Clinical and research dermatologist Dr. Jeannette Graf shared her summer skin care tips with us for keeping skin safe this summer, including what number SPF is best, how often you should really be applying that sunscreen and other ways you can get the most out of your SPF products this season.

Tip #1: SPF 50+

In the summertime months, Dr. Graf recommends that you wear at least a minimum of SPF 50 or more. To the discussion over whether sunscreen over SPF 30 is any more effective than SPF 50, Dr. Graf says: “Yes!” But even at a higher level it still needs to be applied much more often than you think. Leading us to Tip #2.

Tip #2: Re-apply every 40 minutes

Despite what you may have been previously taught, for maximum skin coverage in the summer months re-application should be occurring every 40 minutes. Regular re-application is even more important if you have been sweating or in the water. Dr. Graf also says that sunscreen should be the last item applied to your face, on top of your makeup.

Tip # 3: A shot glass of sunscreen

One of the biggest sunscreen mistakes commonly made is not applying the right amount of sunscreen in the first place. Dr. Graf says that a shot glass worth of sunscreen is the proper amount to spread around your body.

Tip #4: Lotions, Sprays, Powders - which is best?

Sunscreen has come a long way and is now available in many forms. Deciding which one is best for you has more to do with your lifestyle. Sprays can be excellent for those on the go, especially for families, but ensuring you are using the proper amount of sunscreen is crucial to sprays offering maximum protection. Dr. Graf encourages her clients to steer clear of powders as the only type of sun protection. Two product recommendations from Dr. Graf: Glytone Continuous Spray SPF 50 for the body and Avene High Protection Tinted Compact for the face.

I’ll confess, I’m a bit of a BB Cream addict. Take a peek in my vanity and you’ll find no less than 6 different kinds of BB Creams. Some work better than others, but they all make it into my daily skincare routine on a regular basis. The latest to hit my arsenal is the new Revlon Photoready BB Cream skin perfector with SPF 30. Like others in this product category, it’s a lightweight multi-benefit Beauty Balm that combines skincare and makeup into one step.

I’ve been using this product every day for 2 weeks and can honestly say it’s one of the best I’ve tried. The consistency isn’t too thick, which makes it perfect for summer, and it isn’t too thin either, so it provides the perfect amount of moisturizing benefits and coverage I need. The light medium tone blends perfectly with my skin, providing virtually invisible, natural coverage. And unlike many other BB Creams which offer little or no sun protection, Revlon Photoready contains SPF 30, which is essential all year round and especially during the summer months.

One of the reasons I am such a fan of BB Creams, is that they have moisturizers and primers built into the product, something that my dry skin needs desperately. In the winter, I typically apply BB Cream on top of a daily moisturizer for added hydration, but in the warmer months, I don’t need any additional products. I simply apply the cream to damp skin to lock in moisture and to assist with even distribution. I add more product to any areas that need additional coverage, so I can often skip concealer.

Along with the BB Cream, I’m also testing out the new Revlon Lash Potion mascara. The product contains a potion “with strengthening proteins that drench lashes for volume” and a triple-groove wand that prevents clumps while lengthening lashes. I’m lucky enough to have fairly long lashes, and this mascara definitely delivers when it comes to thickening and avoiding clumps.

Both of these products have found a permanent place in my makeup kit this summer.
