Amanda Seyfried’s performance as Cosette is darn near flawless, but it’s her Les Miserables character’s natural beauty and simplicity that she pulls off so well. So it was a startling comparison to see her step out in deep, berry-stained lips for a recent red carpet event. While I found the color a bit brash against her fair skin and light hair, she certainly made a statement with the “it” lip color of the moment.

Copying Amanda’s look requires a lipstick that features deep color with sheer shine, one like Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Volupté Shine. For the same soft shine, but with more subtle color go for something a lipstick like Stila Color Balm Lipstick.

Both Yves Saint Laurent’s Rouge Volupté Shine ($34) and Stila’s Color Balm Lipstick ($22) are available at
Elizabeth-Arden-Green-Tea-Honey-Drops-Body-Cream.jpgIf I were forced to use just one body cream for the rest of my life, it would be tough … but I think I could do it, if the body cream in question was Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Honey Drops Body Cream.

For starters, this cream is just so cool. The drops of honey somehow break apart and sink into the skin upon contact, leaving it super soft and nourished. Even in the dead of winter, when my skin is just a trail of cracking and dryness, this body cream works to bring moisture back to the surface.

I also love that it doesn’t leave a greasy finish upon the skin, so you don’t have to worry about it coming into contact with clothing and ruining it like some other body creams will.

Plus, it smells absolutely divine. The combination of honey with green tea is refreshingly zesty—perfect for a morning pick-me-up before pulling on heavy socks and boots.

I rotate through shampoos and conditioners, because I swear after using them for any length of time they seem to stop working effectively. Then I discovered Pureology’s line of haircare products. First of all they’re all formulated to be extra gentle to colored hair, in fact they have what they call an anti-fade complex that promises to “help colour-treated hair retain its fresh-from-the-salon vibrancy with every use.” And if that wasn’t enough for you, they are 100% vegan and contain absolutely no sulfates. I’ve been using this line for almost a year now and my friends will attest to the fact that my hair looks best after a shampoo and condition using Pureology products.

Because my hair is baby fine, I use the Pure Volume (extra volume for fine hair) shampoo on my roots and the Hydrate Light (extra conditioning for light, fine hair) conditioner on the ends. Tip: most people don’t need to lather up their whole heads with shampoo, apply a dime-sized amount to just the roots and lather and rinse. As the shampoo rinses out it will clean the ends perfectly. Conditioner is the opposite, especially for those of us with thinner hair, apply it only to the ends and let it sit for a couple minutes before rinsing.

You can buy Pureology at hair salons across the United States, check out for locations.

Tocca-Cleopatra-Candelina.jpgI honestly can’t believe I’ve never written about the fabulousness of the Tocca Cleopatra Candelina. This is one of my all-time favorite beauty items and has been for years—it’s just a shame I’m only sharing it with you now.

Truth be told, I love every single Tocca scent. But none of them can hold a candle (pardon the pun) to Cleopatra. In any case, this candle smells absolutely divine. A blend of cucumber and grapefruit notes makes it sound horrible, but trust me—it’s anything but. This candle is light, crisp, fresh and just a touch zesty, and I can’t help but smile every time I light it.

Plus, it’s presented in elegant cut glass and burns for around 30 hours. THIRTY! And it’s a travel candle! I just think that’s miraculous.
