bangs-fall-2011.jpg
Bangs are the hottest hair accessory around, the question is always how low (or high) will you go! This past week, Mena Suvari, Nicole Richie and Eve popped up at red carpet events rocking various lengths of bangs. I prefer Eve’s long swept to the side bangs, but no matter your preference, there are many ways you can go about achieving this popular style.

There are several things to consider before running to your stylist and asking for bangs:
  • They take a while to grow back so choose carefully.
  • They require a bit of styling … I’m willing to bet Mena, Nicole and Eve’s stylists spent quite a bit of time with a brush and dryer to get them just right!
  • Bangs that hit at eye level can be a nuisance as they can fall in eyes easily.
My sage advice is simple, dare to change things up and just remember, it’s hair and it will always grow back.
Chloe-Moretz-High-Bun.jpgThe topknot was one of the big trends seen on the runways for Spring 2012. Luckily, it’s making its way to Hollywood much sooner than six months from now, as evidenced in this super high version from the adorable Chloe Moretz. For Elle’s 18th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute this week, hairstylist Gregory Russell was inspired by Chloe’s white structured dress and created a clean style with side bangs and a high textured knot.

To achieve this look, Gregory first sectioned out Chloe’s bangs and then slicked her hair into a high ponytail with Magic Move Medium Wax. He then back-combed the ponytail, twisted it and pinned it up before blowing out and setting the bangs into the ponytail. To finish and set the look, Gregory used Frederic Fekkai Brushable Hair Spray.

We’re loving the drama of the hair, especially teamed with Chloe’s simple eye makeup, rosy cheeks and pale pink lips.

lancome-golden-hat-powder.jpgKate Winslet’s Golden Hat Foundation has teamed up with Lancôme to create a truly beautiful limited edition holiday offering. The line features a shimmery face powder (Poudre Lumière), a stunning, bright red lipstick (L’Absolu Rouge Lipcolor) and petite-sized nail polishes (Mini Le Vernis) in pink and red. I’m sure these products are going to be a smashing success, and I have to admit I’m totally smitten with the golden fedora (the symbol of the Golden Hat Foundation) emblem on the Poudre Lumière. According to their Facebook page, “The Golden Hat Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating barriers for people with autism around the world, and creating an environment that holds these individuals as intellectually capable.” I commend Kate Winslet on her passionate service to the autistic community!

The Poudre Lumière is available for $42 from Nordstrom.com. Find out more about the Golden Hat Foundation by visiting their website.

olayfhrs.jpgIt’s not something people like to talk about, but it’s something that affects 85% of women: facial hair. Whether yours is fine or medium, there’s finally a hair removal system that really works, without the tell-tale redness or irritation that many other facial hair removers can leave, Olay Smooth Finish Facial Hair Removal Duo.

This specially formulated two-step system is designed to gently, yet effectively, remove fine to medium unwanted facial hair on the upper lip and jaw line, while minimizing irritation. This is great news for the 96% of women with visible facial hair that remove it five times a month.

Easy to use, the system includes:

Step 1: a Skin Guarding Balm which helps prepare skin for removal by providing a thin guarding layer while still exposing hair.

Step 2: Hair Removal Cream with a fresh, light scent is applied over the guarding balm to weaken and effortlessly remove fine to medium hair.

The results? Skin is immediately hair free, with no signs of redness and irritation and you’re ready to face the world with confidence.
