While a lot of celebs are still going the nude nail route, some are stepping up their game with bright red nails. They’re bringing out their inner vixen and vamp, and we have to say we’re totally on board! Red nails jazz up anything, from jeans and tees to dramatic gowns. Check out what some of the celebs have been doing with their red nails lately. (And we’re especially loving this, since today is July 4!)

Rose Byrne teamed her white Valentino dress with bold red nails for the premiere of Damages.

Burlesque queen Dita von Teese paired her signature red lip with equally red nails, which looked super glamorous with her black fit-and-flare dress in Paris.

Singer Jessie J is no stranger to bold fashion and beauty looks, and teaming bright red nails with her pajama-inspired black and white ensemble is just so fun and kitschy.

For the premiere of her new movie, Savages, Blake Lively brought the drama with red nails and a sexy Zuhair Murad couture gown.

I am a huge fan of nail polish layering to make your own look, as evidenced by this post. And this week I made up what I call Spubble Gum Pink, using Essie Tennis Corset and Essie Forget Me Nots! The Spubble Gum Pink name comes from how perfectly bubblicious pink it is, mixed with the perfect dash sparkle. To create the color I did my usual base coat, followed by one even coat of Forget Me Nots — let that sit a couple minutes and then follow up with a coat of Tennis Corset to add the shimmery sheen. Lastly, don’t forget your top coat to seal it all in!

The long side braid is making a comeback! This easygoing style is perfect when temperatures heat up and you don’t want to put your hair in another boring ponytail. And, as it’s to be expected, celebs are starting to flock to the style in droves! The latest girls sporting a long side braid are Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley of Harry Potter fame) and Jordin Sparks.

We’re loving both girls’ takes on the trend. Bonnie’s is a bit more polished, and has a girly feel since it’s tied off with a black bow. Jordin’s is a bit messier and mussed up, with tendrils coming out on one side, which is perfect after a day at the beach.

Creating this style is simple—just create a side part, bring all your hair to one side and braid! You don’t even need to French braid, which makes this super easy. Finish with an elastic and voila! Super chic hair in seconds.

I’ve been growing my hair out for a while now, but then I see a pic of a celeb, like Cameron Diaz, with a hot cropped ‘do, and I just drool. For the What to Expect When You’re Expecting premiere, the incomparable Ms. Diaz stepped out with her hair in a soft and sleek bob with sideswept bangs. This is definitely one hot style for when the temperatures rise. I’m not sure I’m ready to cut my hair yet, but one of these days I’ll stop longing for shorter locks and go for it.
