There’s a new makeup trend out there that we just have to tell you about. Matching your lips and tips. It’s not the first time this has happened in makeup history, but it IS the first time we’ve seen beauty brands creating collections specifically around the idea! Both M.A.C and butter LONDON have created lip and nail products specifically designed to be worn together in matching shades.

MAC-Fashion-Sets.jpgIn M.A.C’s case, the collection is called Fashion Sets. The collection includes 16 different 3-piece lip and nail color sets inspired by the brand’s most popular shades around the world (North America, Asia Pacific, Europe & Africa, and Latin America & Middle East all have different collections to choose from):

Myth (light neutral nude)
Rebel (midtonal cream plum)
Russian Red (vivid intense bluish red)
Snob (light neutral pink)
Saint Germain (light cool pink)
Morange (bright cream orange)
Impassioned (bright warm pink)
Ravishing (midtonal neutral peach)
Spice (midtone neutral nude)
Girl About Town (bright blue fuchsia)
Chestnut (rich chocolate brown)
Peachstock (light peachy nude)
Razzledazzler (light cream peach)
Angel (light warm pink)
Please Me (mid-tone warm pink)
Pink Nouveau (mid-tonal cool pink)

Each of the 3-piece collections includes a nail polish, lipstick and lipgloss, which can be purchased separately or, as is the point, together.

butter-LONDON-Lippy.jpgbutter LONDON’s new lipgloss, Lippy, comes in 5 gorgeous colors that are already found in the nail polish collection:

Primrose Hill Picnic (fuchsia)
Snog (hot pink)
Teddy Girl (bubblegum pink)
Trout Pout (cantaloupe)
Yummy Mummy (medium beige)

All five colors are highly pigmented and match their corresponding polishes perfectly!

We wait with bated breath to see what Pantone’s color of the year will be. And this year, it’s the fun, punchy, super bright Tangerine Tango! Think the juiciest orange possible, now inspiring a whole lot of fashion and beauty products in its wake. Below, the beauty products we think do it best.

Trendspotting-Red-Lips-Celebs.jpgThere’s a new trend sweeping the red carpet: bold lips. But rather than just picking a shade of red and calling it a day, celebs are taking some real chances with their lip color.

Take Leigh Lezark, for example. Her lips are such a gorgeously bright shade of red, but what makes them stand out is the matte texture. Try a lipstick like M.A.C Russian Red to get this look.

Hannah Simone, from the new hit show New Girl, took her bold lips in a slightly different direction with a super-glossy shade of orangey-red. You can get the look with a color like M.A.C Lady Danger.

Hannah’s female counterpart from New Girl, the fabulously quirky Zooey Deschanel, went for a darker and creamier red hue recently on the red carpet. We love a lipstick like M.A.C Chili for this look.

What you have to keep in mind, no matter what shade of bold lipstick you go for, is that it must be applied precisely. Use a lipliner in a complementary shade to outline your Cupid’s bow and the line of your lips, and even fill them in a bit with the pencil before going over them with the lipstick. A lip brush will help you apply the color more evenly than slicking it on directly from the tube.

And, above all? Have fun and get noticed!
The Grammy Awards always provide some truly interesting looks for the red carpet. And this year’s ceremony, held this past Sunday, were no exception with some gorgeous, some crazy and some unexpected twists. Here are the trends we liked the most.

Adele-Amber-Rose-Red-Lips-Grammys.jpgBold red lips
Red was definitely a lucky color for Adele, who took home six awards during the evening! She teamed her creamy red lip with tons of eyeliner and super long lashes. She was joined in the red lip department by Amber Rose, whose lips complemented her blonde buzz cut and bright yellow gown.

Big-Hair-Grammys.jpgShowstopping big hairdos
It comes as no surprise to anyone that Diana Ross went for her signature big curly locks. She was joined by Esperanza Spalding, Corinne Bailey Rae and Rihanna, all with their own takes on big, notice-me hairstyles.

Kelly-Osbourne-Katy-Perry-Grammys.jpgCandy-colored hair and pink lips
Kelly Osbourne went for lavenderish grey with pale pink lips, while Katy Perry chose bright turquoise with pink lips. Both ladies definitely didn’t shy away from bold looks, that’s for sure.

Kate-Beckinsale-Jessie-J-Grammys.jpgFun ponytails
The ponytail is such an under-utilized style on the red carpet. But both Kate Beckinsale and Jessie J went for the super girly style for this awards show, and they looked gorgeous! We love both Kate’s curly version and Jessie’s super sleek iteration.

Carrie-Underwood-Fergie-Julianne-Hough-Grammys.jpgSmoky eyes and nude lips
Ah, the old standby. Carrie Underwood, Fergie and Julianne Hough all went for different takes on the classic trend. Carrie’s false lashes were uber-long, Fergie chose bold orange shadow, and Julianne wore tons of black liner, proving that there are so many ways to make this trend your own.

For several years now, Reese Witherspoon has dabbled in long layers and sweeping bangs. These shorter, fringe-like bangs make her look younger, while her beautiful blonde color adds a nice glow to her face. If you’re up for the styling challenge and the commitment (growing them out can be a test of patience), thicker, shorter bangs can really make you look several years younger and more vibrant.
