Funny, down to earth, and always wearing the perfect shade of lipstick, Emma Stone is not only high on the celebrity you want to be besties with list, but she also inspires with her approachable makeup looks. Looking nothing like the cave woman that she provides the voice for in The Croods, Emma Stone was fresh faced and ready for spring with her natural pink lip and bronze smokey eye at the New York City premiere for the animated film. With nude lips prominent on the Spring 2013 fashion week runways, the subtle pink in Emma’s lip makes it easy to try out this beauty trend at home without risking a washed out look.

When it comes to new beauty trends, BB cream has been leading the pack in popularity. Brands from Maybelline to Dior offered the beauty balm or blemish balm to the masses who gladly slathered on BB goodness to tint, hydrate and SPF their faces. Seemingly taking a trend and running with it, beauty brands are now selling us on the multiple benefits of CC (or color corrector) cream. So is this for real? Is there a difference between BB cream and CC cream?

It may surprise you to hear that there actually is a difference between the two similar sounding products. CC cream fits more in the skincare family than the cosmetic family, unlike BB cream. With the main focus of the product on priming, nourishing and providing color correction to your skin, CC cream is the older, wiser and less flashy (color coverage wise) version of BB cream.

UK based skincare brand Nip + Fab creator, Maria Hatzistefanis, tells us that she created her CC cream “as an answer to many peoples’ complaints about BB creams,” stating that “they are often too oily, too heavy.” Creating a lighter formula that corrects skin rather than just covering it up, brands like Clinique will be introducing their own CC cream this spring that will focus on brighter skin with the use of light diffusing optic technology. If you have redness, uneven skin tone, or acne prone skin, CC cream will be a welcome addition to your routine.

It might be just coincidence, but while ‘The Great and Powerful Oz’ is opening in theaters, emerald green has become one of the “It” colors of the season. One fun and easy (and amazingly cheap) way to infuse the color into your spring wardrobe is via nail polish, here are some of the best of the season.

From a distance, the subtle, shimmery eye, perfected with a pop of pink on the lips seen at Dior’s Autumn-Winter 2013 RTW Collection at Paris Fashion Week is playful and sweet. A closer view shows the real silver lining — a dramatic cat eye with a twist. Silver eyeliner starts from the inner corner of the upper eyelid as a compliment to the more traditional cat eye technique used to line the outer eye corner and lower lid. Creating a bold eye with a subtle, metallic shade may be spring’s new go-to beauty trick. Because who doesn’t want to get a little fancy every once in awhile? Recreate the look at home with these top metallic eyeliners.

pixie-cuts-spring-2013.jpgAfter Charlize Theron took to the Oscars’ Red Carpet showing off her new super-short hair I couldn’t ignore the pixie as an “it” spring style anymore. I’ve also come to realize that this cut looks far better on more face shapes then I had originally thought and can be equally bold, cute and chic, depending on your mood — just check out the range of versatility from Charlize Theron’s to Anne Hathaway’s to Halle Berry’s styles. The pixie is officially this spring’s must-have hairstyle, so if you’re looking for a bold new look, this one is definitely for you! And while the cut itself doesn’t require a lot of styling, you will need to grab a pomade or gritty styling product to shape and bend your hair into all sorts of variations.
