Burts-Bees-Lip-Balm.jpgOver the past few years, we’ve tested more lip sticks, glosses and balms than we could possibly count, all promising numerous benefits with varying results.

Some were too sticky, some were too slick. Some too pigmented, or poor tasting. But the one balm that has proven one of our favorites of all time has been Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil. For merely $3, this perfect lip ointment packs the ideal combination of hydration, tint, texture (super silky smooth!), scent and price.
With a few passes on your lips, your smackers will be soft and supple with a slight sheen.

Plus, we love Burt’s Bees for its commitment to using all-natural products, such as the anti-oxidant rich pomegranate oil in this lip balm. And for those that already call themselves devotees to this brand’s lip products, make sure to try their new acai berry and mango butter varieties. Yum! $2.99, drugstore.com

Philosophy-Trick-Or-Treat-Lipshine-Duo.jpgNot only do we totally love every single product by Philosophy … we’re so glad the brand continues to create products that resonate with every holiday. Enter the Philosophy Trick or Treat Lipshine Duo, an adorable set of Halloween-themed lipglosses guaranteed to sweeten up your pout for this candy-filled holiday.

Choose from Caramel Apple, a deep burgundy, or Pumpkin Spice, a shimmery burnished orange. Each is formulated to melt right into your lips while not including parabens or sulfates. Such a delicious treat!

The Philosophy Trick or Treat Lipshine Duo retails for $18 at sephora.com.
Stila-Acai-Crush.jpgWe know we’ve been covering a lot of lip stains lately (like here and here), but they are just so…efficient. Their color lasts so much longer than any lip gloss or lipstick, and you can customize the depth of your hue by using single, or multiple applications.

Stila’s Açaí Crush Lip & Cheeks Stain is the newest addition to their fruit-inspired stains (even though it doesn’t smell or taste fruity.) The color is fantastically rich and vibrant, and we didn’t experience sandpaper lips like wit some other more drying lip stains.

This lip color is not only inspired from a super fruit, but Stila claims it’s “super smart”, too. The formula is specifically formulated to create a unique color depending on your skin’s pH levels. Though the color was severely clown-like on our cheeks (maybe we used too much of the product), our lips were a perfect (and we mean purrrrrfect) shade of ruby red! It was the most perfect (yes, we said it again) shade of candy apple red we’ve ever found for our skin color and lips.

The color comes quickly when you click, click, click, so beware. Plus, a tiny bit goes a very long way, since the formula is deeply pigmented. The brush works great for precise application, which is ideal for a gel formula like this one.

Our beautiful ruby lip shade lasted all night, without fading even just a bit. The only bad part about having such a long-lasting formula, is that sometimes…it lasts too long! We had to scrub our lips in the morning to get off excess color, but we thought it was well worth the pretty pout from the night before! We foresee ourselves wearing the Stila Açaí Crush Lip & Cheeks Stain for every holiday party we have in the coming weeks, and you will, too, once you add it to your makeup bag. $24, stilacosmetics.com

When the weather cools off, and the leaves start turning, nothing is more comforting than warm, sweet and spicy scents - whether in the kitchen or on your body! Blanket yourself in fall aromas with these five indulgent goodies.

1. Philosophy Trick or Treat Lip Shine Duo, $18. Pumpkin spice and caramel apple? Yes, please! These high-shine glosses smell and taste fantastic, adding a nice sheer hint of color. Though they are a little stickier than we would have liked, we didn’t mind, because Philosophy goodies are formulated without parabens, sulfates, GMOs and triclosan.

2. Philosophy The Gingerbread Man Scrub, $25. We adore scrubs for this brand. They have the perfect amount of grain (not too soft, not too rough), plus they warm up marvelously as you work them onto your skin in the tub or bath. The spicy, gingery scent of this cookie-inspired scrub is light, and refreshing, and stays on your skin for a good amount of time.

3. Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Peel, $44. PTR is known for their anti-aging products, and their pumpkin peel is no exception. We loved how soft our skin was after just one use, and the fantastic scent is addicting. Plus, we were originally afraid it might be too much for our sensitive facial skin to handle, but there was no reaction, or left over breakouts!

4. Fresh Sugar Plum Lip Treatment SPF 15, $22.50. Give us a sweet, SPF-laden, sheerly tinted and silky lip product any day. Fresh’s new plum hue is fantastic for fall because it’s sweet, and pairs perfectly with wind blushed cheeks. The twist at the bottom of the stick is great for securing the top nicely, so we don’t have to worry about the top coming off in our bags. Though a little pricey, it will most likely last for months.

5. Cranberry Joy Shimmer Lotion by the Body Shop, $16. For us, the mouthwatering cranberry scent from the Body Shop is our favorite holiday scent. Though its more reminiscent of Christmas than of fall (to us, at least), the light shimmer it leaves on your skin looks beautiful in soft autumnal light.

The new color wands from the Sephora Collection are genius. Honestly, they are so brilliant, it’s amazing to us to think that no one ever thought of something like this before (well, maybe they have, but they clearly weren’t memorable enough to mention here.) Each wand comes equipped with six different colors. The Nymph wand (center) comes with clear gloss, light pinks, and neutral peaches. The Siren wand (right) has medium pinks, berry tones and shimmery nudes. Our favorite, though, was the Muse wand (left). It comes stacked with glossy plum, tangerine and a variety of nudes.

All wands have a mango, peachy smell and flavor. We loved how easy these were to carry around, without feeling like we were toting an arsenal of glosses with us. Think about it, if you were to purchase all three wands, which take up the space of three traditional lip glosses, you’d actually have 18 options! They aren’t sticky, and the darker hues are nicely pigmented, plus the color lasts a decent amount of time.

Each color connects to the next with their own brush. The only problem we’d foresee having with these is falling madly in love with one or two hues, and running out quickly, since the jars are pretty micro, and we can’t imagine them lasting a huge amount of time if this were the case.

Regardless, we absolutely adore these color wands, and at $10 each, think they’re a great value, as well. Sephora.com
