ombre-lip-color-trend.jpgAs a self-professed beauty junkie I really like checking out trends in makeup — during a recent read of Sephora’s The Glossy (their all-things-beauty blog) I stumbled upon a lipstick trend that captivated me. It seems that the ombré style has made its way to lips. With step-by-step tutorials on how to get the colors just right from makeup artist and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics line founder, David Klasfeld, these lip looks are truly worth checking out. The question is, will you try them out, too?

Funny, down to earth, and always wearing the perfect shade of lipstick, Emma Stone is not only high on the celebrity you want to be besties with list, but she also inspires with her approachable makeup looks. Looking nothing like the cave woman that she provides the voice for in The Croods, Emma Stone was fresh faced and ready for spring with her natural pink lip and bronze smokey eye at the New York City premiere for the animated film. With nude lips prominent on the Spring 2013 fashion week runways, the subtle pink in Emma’s lip makes it easy to try out this beauty trend at home without risking a washed out look.

By-Terry-Baume-De-Rose-IP-SPF-15.jpgFor the most luxurious pout around, you simply must try By Terry Baume de Rose IP/SPF 15. Your lips will never be the same!

This balm has long been one of our favorites. When we need a little extra special something in our life, we reach for this little pink tub and let it work its magic. It’s formulated with essential rose wax, floral oils and bio-ceramides, all which work to restructure, soothe and nourish the lips.

But what we really love? It’s not waxy, tacky, sticky OR greasy. It just sinks into the lips and leaves them feeling silky smooth. It even contains anti-aging properties! And, yes, it’s rose-scented … so it just feels so romantic, too.

By Terry Baume de Rose IP/SPF 15 retails for $59 at beauty.com.
Hurraw-Lip-Balm.pngI’m pretty obsessed with lip balm. At any one moment in time, I probably have at least five or six rattling around in my purse, not to mention another gaggle in my living room, my bedroom, my bathroom, my office … the list goes on and on. That being said, it takes a lot for a lip balm to make it into my prized collection—but Hurraw! Lip Balm has done just that.

I picked up one of these balms on a recent trip to American Apparel—it was just a last-minute purchase because I saw it sitting near the register. I didn’t really know what to expect, but I certainly didn’t anticipate falling head over heels!

This lip balm is all natural, vegan and raw—none of which I am, but I still can appreciate it. It’s made using premium fair trade ingredients from organic farmers, and it’s even gluten-free and kosher. Pretty cool, huh? But what I absolutely love about it is the fact that it makes my lips feel fantastic. It softens and smooths them, even when they feel chapped from the horrible winter winds we’ve been experiencing as of late. And it lasts for hours! I can put it on before bed and my lips still feel great the next morning.

Hurraw! Lip Balm comes in seven different tasty flavors and retails for $3.80 at americanapparel.net.
Stila-Lip-Glaze-Seashell.jpgI’m normally not one for pale pink lipglosses. I just think they’re too teenybopper or too girly. But Stila Lip Glaze in Seashell is neither! It’s pretty, it’s pink, it’s girly, sure … but it’s also got a level of chicness and sophistication I haven’t found before in a pink gloss.

Now, the formula of Stila Lip Glaze is one that you’ll either love or hate immediately. Truly, I’ve never met anyone who falls in the middle of the spectrum. It is a bit tackier than some other glosses out there, which turns a lot of people off. But I happen to really like it—I think the tackiness settles onto your lips after a few minutes, and the staying power of the gloss is unparalleled. I don’t find myself needing to reapply and reapply and reapply and … well, you get the picture.

Plus, this specific shade is just so gorgeous. It has a hint of shimmer that makes your lips glimmer and glisten, but not so much that you’ll feel like you’re on your way to a Justin Bieber concert. It’s perfect on its own or layered over a darker pink gloss or lipstick. It’s just meant to make you feel prettier than before!

Stila Lip Glaze in Seashell retails for $22 at beauty.com.
