A couple weeks ago we noticed Zoe Saldana was favoring a certain bold-hued lip trend. And this week Emma Watson popped up at two different red carpet events sporting two different looks — apparently she doesn’t have a go-to, how refreshing! On June 3, Emma Watson looked a bit more fresh and young on the ‘This Is the End’ red carpet. Her makeup seemed to have a more bronzed, nude tint to it and her lips were a shade akin to just-picked raspberries. Then she stepped out on June 4, in support of her own new movie, ‘The Bling Ring.’ This time she looked decidedly more vamp, with her darker eyebrows and more reddish-hued lips.

Both lips were deeply textured in deeper, flat matte shades of lipcolor — a look Dior Rouge Dior Lip Color nails every time.

Since hitting the red carpet in support of ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness’ Zoe Saldana has constantly painted her lips in bold, bright hues of red. In a behind-the-scenes video she was recently caught saying, “An item I cannot live without and that I’m always with is a red lipstick. I think every woman should find her right shade of red — An ideal red. Red is a very alive colour, it’s fire and it’s filled with passion, it helps you. It helps your spirit, it’s very present.”

Spotted on Zoe on May 14 (pictured far left) was Laura Mercier’s Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Hollywood. The shade is certainly bold and bright and Laura Mercier’s site describes it as just simply “red” — I guess no other descriptor is needed. Then, on May 20 she stepped out in Cannes for the premiere of ‘Blood Ties’ (pictured far right) in what appears to be that same shade of Hollywood red. But during a photocall for the same movie, on the same day in Cannes, (pictured center) she seems to have opted for a more pink hue — possibly Laura Mercier’s Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Palm Beach. No matter the color, it’s clear that Zoe truly does prefer bold lipsticks.

You can get Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour ($26) in Hollywood, Palm Beach or 31 other hues at Nordstrom.com.

At any given moment, you will find over five different types of lip products in my purse. At last count, over nine lip products were floating around in the recesses of my large bag. Clearly in my opinion you can never have too many lip products. If you’re looking for a beauty product to stock pile, lip balms are small in size, effective in purpose, and easy on the wallet. At just a few measly dollars a pop, these four lip balms help keep your lips hydrated through spring, summer and beyond.

Nivea Olive Oil & Lemon Lip Care ($2.99): Enriched with lemon extract and vitamin E, the lemon sooths rough, dry lips and
the olive oil moisturizes. The subtle scent is like a mini-Mediterranean vacation, making this an absolute favorite among the Nivea lip care line.

EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm ($3.49): The egg shape may take a few applications to get used to, but the lasting hydration, yummy flavors (lemon, mint, pomegranate to name a few), and all-natural formula will keep you hooked.

Aquaphor Lip Repair ($4.99): Similar to the Aquaphor repair lotion, the rich texture of the Aquaphor lip repair works well for severely dry, cracked lips, especially for individuals with sensitive skin since it is fragrance free with no preservatives or dyes.

John Masters Organics Lip Calm ($6): Olive oil, jojoba oil, and shea butter combine in this lightweight organic ‘lip calm’ that glides on more like an oil than a wax based product.

With the Met Gala’s Punk: Chaos to Couture theme this year, beauty products that pull in that rock star element have been catching my eye. There is something about the cool, “I’m not trying too hard, but actually yes this look took hours to create” element of rocker chic beauty that draws me in. Bringing the chance to channel your inner punk to the masses, Theo Kogan is a rocker, model, makeup artist, mom and the founder of cosmetics brand Armour Beauty. As a singer for bands, Theo wanted to create a lip gloss that would stay on during her performances. What she created is an intensely moisturizing, highly pigmented gloss that is as nourishing for the lips as it is fashion-forward rocker chic.

At first swipe, Armour Beauty’s lip gloss goes on smooth, produces bright color, and stays on much longer than your average gloss. The line of 20 glosses are named after songs, bands, and pop icons. The glosses come in two different collections: shimmer and opaque. Armour Beauty glosses range from on trend colors like Barracuda, a classic blue-red, to punk rock Femme Fatale, an opaque black gloss.

Not only do the glosses come packed with natural ingredients like avocado, mango, olive and shea butters, grape seed oil, and Vitamin E, they are also paraben- and cruelty-free. Finally a lip gloss that rocks as much as you do.

Of course we knew the stars of the Great Gatsby would bring their A-List beauty game to the highly anticipated premiere of the film at Lincoln Center in New York City on May 1. But what we didn’t expect was that Gatsby co-star Isla Fisher would steal the spotlight with her deep hot pink lip, retro black cat eyeliner, and super glam deep side part and waves. Ok! Magazine spilled the full details on the retro look straight from Fisher’s makeup artist Katye Denno. With the exception of one product, the look was done completely with organic and natural makeup brands. Denno’s inspiration for the look was to make Isla look like an “old-time, glamorous Hollywood movie star.” Mission definitely accomplished.
