Regenerist-Night-Resurfacing-Elixir[1].jpg
I have to admit, when I first got my hands on Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Elixir, I was a little hesitant — and, yes, scared. “Resurfacing” sounded like such an intense word for my sensitive skin. But then I realized I was overreacting, because nothing from Olay has ever been, or will ever be, harsh on any skin type!

So I got over my fears and slathered this leave-on nighttime moisturizer all over my skin. Skin, I’ll have you know, that was dry, breaking out and far from its beautiful best.

Well, imagine my surprise and delight when, in just one treatment, my skin already looked a MILLION times better. When I woke up the next morning, the dryness was gone and the pimples were fading. I felt like I was looking at a different face from the night before - and the results have only improved in the few weeks I’ve been testing it out. I’m glowing, radiant and look as if I’ve gotten a facial or (gasp!) had work done.

Not to mention, I absolutely love the formula. The gel-like consistency has a touch of shimmer to it, so it’s like there’s a party in my apartment every night before bed. Thanks to glycolic acid that permeates the upper layers of the skin’s surface and increases natural exfoliation, it works with the body’s nightly changes to smooth skin in just one week. This moisturizer actually works as well as a professional light chemical peel.

You’ll also find humectants like glycerin and glycol, Pal-KTTKS (Regenerist’s proprietary, signature anti-aging penta-peptide) and skin soothers like pro-vitamin B5 and allantoin within the formula.

What all this boils down to? At the end of the day, I’m reaching for my Olay.

Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Elixir retails for $24.99. Check olay.com for retail information.
FAB-Facial-Radiance-pads.jpg
When we first popped the top on the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads, we were instantly transported to our middle and high school years as acne-troubled teens in need of Clearisil. The pads are so similar in size and texture, that we couldn’t help but be nostalgic (well, not really.). But alas, our skin is relatively clear these days, and these pads don’t sting, or dry out our skin quite like the facial pads of our youth.

Granted, First Aid Beauty’s (FAB) pads aren’t acne-killers. They are formulated with a balance of lactic and glycolic acids to - as the product totes - improve skin clarity, visibly reduce pore size, and help with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They are alcohol-free, so they shouldn’t dry out your skin, and claim they are safe for sensitive skin.

After the first few days of using FAB’s facial pads in place of our usual toner, we didn’t really notice much difference. We started thinking that maybe they were too sensitive to actually help us see much of a difference in our skin. We usually tend to think that products only work if we feel them working - as in, tingling, burning, etc. Well, just the other day - we’d say after about two weeks of twice daily use - we looked in the mirror and were happily stunned at what our skin looked like without makeup. It was smoother, brighter, and our pores were actually slightly smaller than we could remember (unless our eyes were playing tricks on us.)

After reading up on reviews online, some people complained about breakouts (we didn’t experience this, and trust us - our skin is more sensitive than a wet tissue), but most were incredibly happy with their results. For $28, you get 60 pads, which is good for a month if used morning and night.

Bottom line? Were excited about our two-week results, and can’t wait to see what our skin looks like after another two weeks. Try it, give it some time, and you shouldn’t be disappointed. $28, sephora.com

Mario-Badescu-Cucumber-Cleansing-Lotion.jpgChalk this up to genius inventions we wish we had come up with. We’ve slathered creams and gels all over our faces, we’ve sprinkled, sprayed and otherwise spritzed. Mario Badescu Cucumber Cleansing Lotion is one of the most brilliant products we’ve come across in all our years of playing with beauty products.

This genius bottle contains a remarkably bright green formula that, when applied to a cotton pad and swiped across the face, turns CLEAR. The watery consistency is cooling, refreshing and unbelievably moisturizing.

You’ve heard the phrase “cool as a cucumber?” Badescu’s cleansing astringent most certainly delivers on that theory. It disinfects the skin while removing residue, oil and bacteria from the surface, therefore preventing future breakouts. And did we mention how cooling it is? (We just can’t get over it!)

Simply pour some onto a cotton pad, wipe in circular motions across your face, and watch as the magic happens. You’ll be amazed at the veritable difference in your skin within just a few uses.

Mario Badescu Cucumber Cleansing Lotion retails for $15-$45 at mariobadescu.com and nordstrom.com.
MB-enzyme-cleanser.jpgSince we first discovered Mario Badescu’s drying lotion in college, MB has been our skincare mainstay. Visits to their small, yet official skincare store/spa in Manhattan only made us love the brand even more.

We’ve tried most of their products - kiwi scrubs, seaweed cleansers, honey moisturizer - but the star of the Mario Badescu line, in our honest opinion, is the Enzyme Cleansing Gel

We first fell in love with it when it came as a sample with our first drying lotion purchase. It has a soft, clean scent unlike other cleansers we’ve tried, that makes you want to smell it over and over again. It’s non-drying and non-stripping formula is also non-foaming. It was a little strange at first to cleanse our face with no lather. Rubbing a green, pearlescent gel on t-zone wasn’t too convincing, but seven years later, it’s still our number one favorite cleanser of all time.

The packaging is simple and not in the least fancy, but the costumer service is fantastic, you always get samples to try with your order, and the price just can’t be beat.

If you wear heavy foundation or eye makeup, you’ll need a makeup remover beforehand, but it’s the only cleansing product we have found to not leave our face feeling tight and in desperate need of moisturizer (though we always apply anyway…and so should you.) Paired with their Special Cucumber Lotion (it’s really a toner, and not a lotion, fyi), our face has never (and probably will never) looked so good. $12 for 8 oz; $20 for 16 oz; mariobadesu.com

Dermalogica-Clean-And-RefreshKit.jpgIt’s rare that every product in a gift set is exactly what we would want. There’s usually at least one product in the mix that just doesn’t get our engines revved, so to speak. But that is totally and completely not the case with the Dermalogica clean and refresh kit. The three products in this kit are exactly what we would choose to create our perfect Dermalogica kit … it’s honestly like the fabulous folks at Dermalogica read our minds!

Contained within the cheerful red box are, without a doubt, our three standout products from the skincare line. A full-sized bottle of the line’s cult favorite PreCleanse sits alongside 1.7 oz. bottles of Special Cleansing Gel and Multi-Active Toner. Believe us when we say these three products are all you need to reveal fresh, glowing, absolutely GORGEOUS skin.

What we love most about all three of these products is that they’re so light and gentle — not a harsh chemical or stripping agent in sight. Each is perfect for all skin types — trust us, our skin is uber-sensitive, and we’ve never broken out from any of these three! The toner helps to tighten pores and hydrate the skin; PreCleanse liquefies sebum and oil-based debris from the skin’s surface with kukui nut, borage seed and rice bran oils; and the Special Cleansing Gel is a concentrated, soap-free cleanser designed to remove all impurities from the skin. (Side note: we love using the Special Cleansing Gel with our Clarisonic Mia.)

So, in a nutshell? This kit contains our three hero products from Dermalogica. Why not check it out?

The Dermalogica clean and refresh kit retails for $34 at dermalogica.com. This is an amazing deal when you consider the PreCleanse retails for $34 on its own!
