For some reason, the news this past week that Heidi Klum would be launching her own signature scent took us a little by surprise. We can’t really put on finger on why, but maybe it’s simply because we didn’t see it coming.

Previously working with Victoria’s Secret on a cosmetic line, and with New Balance for a fashion forward loungewear line, Ms. Klum is clearly no stranger to working with big named companies to launch products with her signature on it.

She will be working for Coty, Inc. (they own beauty brands such as Chloe, Chopard, Marc Jacobs and tons of other celeb fragrance lines), and launching her scent - named Heidi Klum Shine - in September of this year.

From the press release, Heidi says, “I am thrilled to be partnering with Coty on my new fragrance. Working for a long time on developing a signature scent and watching it finally come to life is so exciting. I never thought my nose would recover from sniffing so many scent combinations, but it is all worth it. I want my fragrance to be truly special and head-turning so that people ask the woman who’s wearing it ‘What are you wearing? You smell delicious’.”

Though we don’t normally get too excited for star-endorsed and developed scents, we’re kind of curious what Shine will smell like - sexy and sultry, perhaps? We look forward to seeing…err, smelling, in September.

Do you get excited about celebrity-developed scents, or do you place your trust in your designer favorites?

We love Burt’s Bees products. Natural beauty products that actually deliver, and at a low, drugstore price point? That’s what we like to see! So, much to our delight, Burt’s Bees recently released natural solid perfumes. [Insert a Yippee!! here]. If you’ve never used a solid perfume, let us educate you on a few points. If you have sensitive skin or sensitive senses, solid fragrances are great, because they are more subtle, and don’t have any alcohol in them like misting scents (which means they aren’t drying). They last longer, plus on cold winter mornings, you can warm the perfume between your finger tips before applying to your pulse points, reducing that little shiver we (and maybe you) get when spritzing our typical fragrance.

It comes in four varieties: Naturally Happy, Naturally Beautiful, Naturally Fresh and Naturally Sensual. Fresh is the…well, freshest and cleanest scent, Beautiful and Happy are sweeter, while Sensual is a little warmer. The product details says you can blend them to create your own scent, but we didn’t try that - not that we are opposed to it, though. So far, Naturally Happy and Fresh are our favorites, and we’re thrilled we can pack our silky, shea-butter infused solids for our holiday traveling without fearing spillage or shattered glass. $10,

When we were a bubbly teenager, the top of our dresser was adorned with at least seven Bath and Body Works body mists. One of our favorites (which we swore made us smell grown up, whatever that means) was the pear scent. The bold, almost nauseatingly pungent spray was light years away from Jo Malone’s new cologne, English Pear & Freesia.

The key notes include King William pear, white freesia and patchouli. The sweet, crisp pear comes through on top and transitions slowly into a light floral scent. The patchouli is present in the slight warmth behind the cool fruity notes, making the complex cologne the perfect combination of late summer and early fall.

Though Jo Malone fragrances are a little pricey, we think they are well worth the money, as a little goes a long way, and the scents are so unique and mouth-watering.

Overall, English Pear & Freesia is layered wonderfully with soft, yet crisp scents that is perfect for autumn (or all year long, really.) $55/$100 (30 ml, 100 ml),

Summer’s almost here—and the spritzing should be easy! Now that the temperatures are about to hit overdrive, everyone is busting out the self-tanner, bronzer, and hopefully even more SPF protection. But it’s important to switch up your fragrance too—so you always feel refreshed and energized when the mercury hits those record-breaking numbers.

And I can’t wait to start spritzing these two hot-weather faves!
