Mint-Nail-Polish-Essie-RGB.jpgIt’s hard to find that one perfect nail polish color that’s bright and attention-grabbing but not too over the top. One that looks just as good on fingers as it does on toes. As it turns out, mint nail polish is the way to go. These are our two favorite shades.

Essie Mint Candy Apple
Since its inception in 2009, this one has been a cult favorite—and it’s easy to see why. Two coats yield absolute perfection. This polish is neither too bright nor too muted, in some lights looking almost white and others near turquoise! But, no matter what, it’s sophisticated and chic.

RGB Minty
There’s no doubt about it, this polish really is minty green. At a recent pedicure appointment, it jumped out at us from the shelves of pinks and reds—and now we’re wearing it on our toes! Even our pedicurist had to confide that she buys bottles and bottles of this color for her personal collection. It’s creamy, it’s gorgeous, it’s completely unique. And, much like our pedicurist, we’re about to start stockpiling.

sally-hansen-salon-manicure-base-coat.jpg
I’m always sharing pics of my nail color combinations, so it’s obvious that I like having them painted. What isn’t as obvious is the fact that I always paint them myself. I just can’t bring myself to part with the money to have a manicure and honestly I’m rough on my nails so the color has to be redone every 5 or so days. So to keep my hands looking nice I started doing manicures myself. I learned very early on that a good base coat is key to a good at-home manicure. My favorite is the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Base Coat. I find it helps smooth out the nail surface and seal my nails nicely for color. I also find that it makes it easier to remove color when I’m done because of the barrier between the nail and color that it creates.

You can get Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Base Coat for $7.99 at ulta.com.

fergie-nail-polish-lady-gaga-fame.jpg
Like it or not there is no shortage of celebrity involvement in the cosmetics world these days. Fergie signed on with wet n wild to be one of their Beauty Ambassadors, making her the face of the cosmetics line for new marketing campaigns. And the first of her endeavors with them, a collection of nail polishes, is starting to pop up in stores. We hear that Tonight’s Gonna Be a Good Night (a clear polish with tiny flecks of black and larger gold hex glitter) is a killer glitter nail topper.

Lady Gaga created her own beauty buzz this week, as she broke the news to her tweeple that her new fragrance wouldn’t break their piggy banks. Lady Gaga Fame, the star’s first fragrance, will be available in September this year and will come in two different packagings. The more pared down of the two will be $30, while a heavier (and likely gaudier) bottle will be available for about $70. The back of the packaging for the fragrance says it’s scented with notes of “tears of belladonna, crushed heart of tiger orchidea with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot and the combinative essences of saffron and honey drops.”

Which celebrity beauty announcement are you most excited about?
RGB-Pink-Nail-Polish.jpgYou know how you can spend years searching for that one perfect pink nail polish? The one that looks just as amazing on your fingers as your toes, the one that looks good on every skin tone, the one that just makes people sit up and take notice of your nails? Well, I’m letting you in on a little secret—I’ve found it for you. It’s RGB Pink.

I’ve tried it on my fingers. I’ve tried it on my toes. I’ve tried it when I’m super pale. I’ve tried it when I’m super tan (well, super tan for me, which is still fairly pale). In any case, this is THE. BEST. PINK. NAIL. POLISH. AROUND.

Two coats yield the creamiest, prettiest, most opaque hot pink color. Plus, the formula is fantastic and lasts for at least a week with no chipping—more like three or four weeks on toes! Really, how could you not fall in love?

RGB Pink retails for $16 at rgbcosmetics.com.
