For as long as I can remember, I haven’t really been a fan of wearing lipstick, probably because I’ve associated wearing it with the dreadful colors I was forced to wear in dance recitals and competitions. However, as I get older and my makeup habits evolve, I’ve found myself obsessed with lipstick and now feel as if my outfits aren’t complete until I apply it.

I don’t like spending a ton of money on lipstick and tend to stick to drugstore brands, and one of my favorites is Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick. The line has a huge selection of colors, including great wine and berry shades for fall. The lipstick is infused with silk and vitamins for a smooth, conditioning color and leaves your lips moisturized while applying evenly with ease. My favorite color and my must-have for both day and night is Black Cherry, it is the perfect combination of a wine and berry color, giving you the edge of a dark lip with the subtle attitude.

There is nothing worse than when you finally find the perfect lip balm, gloss or primer and then two days later it seems to be nowhere to be found, even though you put it directly in your makeup bag. I go through this debacle every few weeks or so and, finally, found a solution. One product that combines all of the above (balm, lip gloss and primer) and it comes in a jar, which makes it pretty hard to misplace.

The Lip Slip One Luxe Balm ($24) is a product by Sara Happ and it can be used as a moisturizer for dry lips or as a primer before applying lipstick. The smooth gloss texture allows for an even and flawless application, or thanks to the glossy finish, a nude color lip gloss. My biggest concern was the fact that I was going to have to use my finger to apply, but I either keep it on my vanity or in my car where there is always a lip brush or tissue handy. The product will not only give your lips a little pop of color, but it works just as well as any balm I’ve tried!

Cosmetic companies have released their new fall collections, and I couldn’t be more excited to play with the season’s palette of bronzes, purples and even bright blues. At the top of my list, the new NARS loves Los Angeles collection ($75). The set encompasses all things that are Hollywood glamour to get you red carpet-ready for a night out. The eyeshadow colors named Abyssinia, Etrusque, Outremer and Bali are different shades of browns (shimmer and matte), a blush pink and of course, cobalt blue. Also, there is a rosy blush and deep bronzer to give you that extra color you’re going to lose once your summer glow fades. The final additions to the set are a light pink lip gloss and a matching nail polish. This set is the perfect way to ease yourself into the fall season, be sure to order yours before they are all gone!

With the turn of seasons comes the turn of colors. We’ve started saying goodbye to bright colors and hello to more matte neutrals and dark shades, but that doesn’t have to be the case with everything. I agree that fashion and nail and lip colors should go darker or stay neutral, but there is one makeup product that is just fine staying on the bright side of things and that’s your eyeliner.

This season is all about colored eyeliners, a trend that has been building steam since this spring, and I think it is finally going to catch on. There are two brands who’ve released new blue shades and I am all about them! Blue isn’t usually my first choice of colors but for some reason when it comes to eyeliner it is the first one I go for, maybe because it’s statement enough without being over-the-top like purple.

First up is the Revlon PhotoReady Kajal Intense Eye Liner + Brightener. This dual ended liner will help you create an intense line, but also brighten your eyes to make sure they pop. The blue pencil will give you a bold intense look while the light white can be placed in the corner to give your eyes added dimension. The creamy formula allows for an effortless application and smooth lines.

The next blue liner on my list is the Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner, which comes in black, brown, brown with shimmer, green, navy, nude, prune, and smoke grey (with a blue tint). The color on the top of my list is definitely the navy, but I also really like the grey. Now navy is a color I never wear, but I love the idea of it for a liner because it gives you the edge you’re looking for but with a more subtle approach than the bright blue. My absolute favorite part about this liner is the self sharpener. Nothing is more annoying than having to sharpen an eyeliner and having it break in those cheap sharpeners. With this pencil, simply twist off the cap and it automatically sharpens itself. This insures an exact line every time.

Having the right powder and primer is one of the most essential steps in applying makeup on a daily basis. For women who wear makeup every day, you know how easily your skin becomes dry and cakey. Properly moisturizing along with priming the skin for application is the best thing you can do and on top of that, it can save you money. Makeup artist secret: we barely ever use super expensive foundation or bronzer, what we do is spend our money on is the primer, which can have the potential to turn any brand into high definition makeup. One of the newest products to hit shelves this fall is the Too Faced Primed and Poreless Pressed Powder ($30). It adjusts to any skin tone while minimizing the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles. The powder is also very versatile, it can be worn alone or under and over foundation to prep skin, keep makeup in place, as well as control shine for a smooth and flawless finish.
