It doesn’t matter whether you were up late dancing or working: Whatever the cause, a sleepness night can wreak havoc on your skin. But don’t assume the only solution is to crawl back into bed…follow these tips to looking radiant and refreshed in no time.

1. Scrub exhaustion away: While you sleep, skin goes through a “renew and repair” cycle that includes the natural exfoliation of dead skin cells. Lack of sleep means means lack of time to repair… and can leave skin looking dull. A good scrub in the shower can replicate this process quickly, leaving skin more radiant and healthy.  *Bonus- Rinse with cold water to stimulate circulation and  firm skin quickly.

2. Moisturize: Losing sleep can mean more than yawns and puffy eyes: it also causes dehydrated skin. A good dose of moisturizer will restore balance and give skin a younger, more supple appearance. *Bonus- Choose a moisturizer with a hint of gradual tanner to counteract sallowness and give skin a natural glow.

3. Less is more foundation: When skin looks dull, our first instinct is to PILE on makeup to conceal the problem. The answer is actually less rather than more. A sheer, creamy formula with light reflecting particles will even out skin tone and diffuse imperfections. Apply with fingers rather than a brush or sponge, so that it melts into skin. *Bonus- Only powder the chin and forehead, leaving the bridge of nose and cheeks dewy.

4. Pay special attention to eyelids: The single most tell-tale sign of a late night? Puffy, red eyes. Pay special attention to this area. Use a creamy concealer to mask dark circles, and don’t forget to blend onto top lid to conceal redness or darkness. *Bonus- a few drops of redness relief drops to whiten eye, and line inner rim with a peachy-flesh toned pencil for a wide-eyed look.

5. Curl lashes for a wide-awake look: This is tried and true advice, yet is usually the most overlooked step. Believe in the power of a lash curler! For added life, use a heated curler, or heat the curler with a blast from the blowdryer to set curl, taking care to test first on back of hand to avoid burns. *Bonus: coat lashes with a navy mascara instead of black; the blue will make eyes appear whiter by comparison.

6. Lastly, a pop of cheek color to brighten the face and draw focus: Tired skin has a sallow, drained appearance; add back some life with a pop of healthy color right on apples of cheeks. *Bonus- Sheer formulas in hues of candy apple red or plum give skin a transparent, natural flush, like you just pinched your cheeks.

While everyone was oohing and ahhing over Sandra’s super-shiny hair at the Oscars, we were busy obsessing over J Lo’s  perfect eyebrows! Yes, there are many salons that can shape similar brows, but remember the recession?! Not everyone can afford a trip to the brow Dr every month. The best advice is to lighten your brows a shade with dye, but it isn’t safe to recommend any at home kits, because the trick is to know how light to go. Worst case scenario you end up with no eyebrows, or disproportionate eyebrows…it can get scary. Second to dye, brow shaping kits are a must-have and the best way to perfect your arch.

And the nominees for best eyebrow shaping kits are:

82nd_Annual_Academy_4ce6.jpgDiane Kruger was lovely in a pulled back, twisted hair style, gilded eyes, and a pale pink lip , leaving the drama  to her AMAZING Chanel gown.

82nd_Annual_Academy_42fc.jpgAs usual, Kate Winslet knocked it out of the park with sleek, Veronica Lake inspired finger waves, and fresh pinks on the face to compliment her blue eyes and golden tresses.

82nd_Annual_Academy_358a.jpgElizabeth banks dazzled with bold lined eyes, a pale lip, and added a sparkly headband to her sophisticated hair style for a extra dose of glam.

82nd_Annual_Academy_2bad.jpgMiley Cyrus brought the drama with smokey eyes, LOTS of lash, a pretty pale pout, and a gorgeous, loose wave updo that was one of our faves of the evening.

46bcbf821510c384_charlize.jpgCharlize Theron’s bright red lip and natural eye made a powerful statement without overpowering the actresses’ knockout face.

7b46e84129bf49ea_Cameron-Diaz.jpgCameron Diaz rocked a muted version of Charlize’s lip, but looked totally different and fresh. Loose, windblown waves were in tune with Cam’s Cali-girl style— effortless, pretty, and natural.

Oscars_2010_1e32.jpgVera Farmiga’s silvery-purple eye was young and fresh, and the bold pink lip complimented her dress without competing with it, topped with a perfectly tousled a chignon.

Beyoncé Knowles is known for her glam red carpet looks and edgy performance style, but today Beyoncé gave us beauty in another form— by giving back to the community with a project she and her mother, Tina, have dreamed about and worked on for years: the Beyoncé Cosmetology Center at the Phoenix Rehab Center in Brooklyn.

beyonce-030510-4.jpgPhoenix House, which is a residential substance abuse treatment program, will run the Career Academy. The academy will serve to help men and women in treatment to prepare for careers in the cosmetology field after a seven-month training course, while overcoming their drug addictions. L’Oreal has donated all the products to be used at the center, and Beyoncé, along with her mother, have pledged to donate $100,000 annually.

We love Beyonce’s chameleon-like beauty, but this venture is her best look yet.
While Hollywood is prepping for the Oscars, we’ve been thinking about all the work that goes into making our favorite celebs look so damn glamorous on this big night. How do they (or their makeup artists — yes they have help) get that amazing red carpet glow? If you have a big Oscar-like event coming up…maybe even the Oscars who knows?…make sure you’re covered with these red carpet must-haves:

givenchygloss.jpgLip Plumper:
The makeup world got a lot more exciting after the invention of lip plumper. What’s better? A good limp plumper + a good gloss all in one.

Our suggestion: Givenchy Pop Gloss. Sephora, $24.50.

Fake Eyelashes:
Talk about an optical illusion. Fake lashes are the best way to illuminate your eyes and add a dash of intensity.

Our suggestion: Andrea Perma Lash Starter Kit. Sally Beauty Supply, $9.99.

Eye Shadow Palette:
The best way to get a modern, glamorous eye is to layer the right colors and eye shadow palettes make it relatively easy.

Our suggestion: Sephora Colorful Artist Palette. Sephora, $32.

powder.jpgBody Shimmer:
Shimmer, shimmer and more shimmer. But we’re not talking just the face. You need a good illuminating powder to apply all over the body.

Our Suggestion: Urban Decay Flavored Body Powder. Sephora, $26.

Luminizing Lotion/Highlighter:
Now that the body is nice and sparkly, you need to light up the face. It’s best to use an oil-free highlighter or lotion that will brighten up your complexion but won’t leave you covered in grease.

Our suggestion: Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion. Sephora, $24.
