kate-beckinsale-11302011.jpgPart of Kate Beckinsale’s signature style is her long, dark locks. But there’s something about her hair’s fall highlight and lowlight coloring that made me drool just a little. At the crown of her head her hair is still quite dark, and her layers allow those darker strands to fall just at eye level. But as you look down to her shoulders you notice her hair takes on a beautiful lighter shade that accentuates her jaw line and brightens her face from below. The effect is pretty and very simple and yet it makes her look younger and more vibrant almost instantly.

katy-perry-amas-hairstyle-112311.jpgThe holidays are around the corner, and for many this means a time of high glamour and sophisticated parties. Just this past week at the American Music Awards, Katy Perry hit the red carpet and delivered some amazing hair-spiration! If your immediate reaction is to the pink hue of her hair, I suggest you look deeper … check out the french twist style and the ornate accessory, it’s truly a sight to behold. Updos are truly glamourous because they accentuate and elongate the neck and allow you to show off your neck and ear jewelry more prominently.

Fekkai Celebrity Stylist Renato Campora, crafted this updo and shared his “secret sauce” (one hint: it’s in the products). Renato began by applying Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting & Texturizing Spray Gel to wet hair in order to give it a firm base. He then blow-dried the hair while brushing it through with a flat brush. He used a one-inch curling iron throughout the hair to create body while giving it a sturdy foundation. Renato then heavily teased the hair. To create the final up-do, he pushed the front of the hair forward and wrapped the rest into a French twist, securing it with hairpins. To complete the look, Renato added an accessory made by Vivienne Westwood by weaving it into the hair with his fingers. He secured the look by spraying the hair with Fekkai Coiff Sheer Hold Hairspray.

So there you have it, a great hairstyle idea for whatever your holiday plans might involve.

Heidi-Klum-AMAs-Makeup.jpgSeriously, can Heidi Klum do no wrong when it comes to her makeup? Her futuristic eye makeup at the AMAs this past weekend was so fantastic, especially set against her laser-cut metallic dress. We’re loving the three-quarter thick black liner and pops of creamy silver eyeshadow in the corners. Here’s how to get the look.

‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1’
premiere took place this week and the red carpet was filled with beauties galore. Two of the girls, as usual, stole the show — Kirsten Stewart (pictured far left) with her beautiful cat eyes and Ashley Greene (pictured far right) with her bold red lips. Nikki Reed (pictured center) held her own by going for a more natural look.

Following Nikki’s cue and rounding out the natural look were Elizabeth Reaser (pictured far right) and Julia Jones (pictured center). While, Christian Serratos (pictured far left) went for a more dramatic look, breaking with her bookish character, Angela’s style.

And just when you thought the only actresses having any fun on the red carpet had deep dark, long locks, we find a pixie among two blondes. Casey LaBow (pictured far right) and MyAnna Buring went for daring, dark eye makeup to offset their lighter features. While Valorie Curry took a page from Alice Cullen’s style diary and let her pixie haircut, not her makeup, do the talking.

I, for one, am really looking forward to this movie’s release! Based on the premiere’s red carpet style I can’t wait to see what the wedding will look like.
jennifer-garner-11072011.jpgA beautiful and expecting Jennifer Garner attended an AFI premiere of her new movie ‘Butter’  this past week. But it wasn’t her drapey dress, strappy sandals, or barely there makeup that caught my eye — it was her nail polish. With her hand perfectly poised on her hip I saw flashes of gun metal grey with a bit of sparkle and became entranced.

I don’t know exactly which products she used to achieve this great color, but my nail color know-how tells me that this can certainly be copied at home. First you’ll need a great grey base polish, try OPI’s French Quarter for Your Thoughts or my personal fave, Essie’s Chinchilly. Next you need a sparkly top coat with a silver sheen to it, SEPHORA by OPI Flurry Up Top Coat or Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in In the Spotlight will work nicely. Start with a good coat or two of the grey base and then apply the sparkle. Try this trick with any of your fave fall colors and watch them sparkle on through the holiday season!
