Lauren Conrad’s pink hair might have been more accidental than intentional, but the result still poured more fuel a trend that’s been burning hot for several years now. While Lauren’s locks were the result of an Indian tradition involving throwing powdered, colored dyes on each other (part of the festival of color known as Holi), there are other, easier — though arguably not as much fun or spiritual — ways to get colorful chunks of hair.

Everybody’s favorite legally blonde actress is now a brunette, again. Reese Witherspoon has been a brunette before, namely for her Oscar-winning role in Walk the Line. This new brunette hue is also apparently also for a movie, The Good Lie, Us Weekly reports. So while the color might not have been entirely her own idea, it is still a departure from the glowing blonde locks she’s known for. Personally, I’m a fan of celebs changing up their looks from time to time, so Reese’s hair is a welcome change. What do you think? Should Reese stick to blonde or is the brunette shade a nice change? 

Blake Lively, and scores of other women, know that nothing says sun goddess more than gilded glamour on your lids. The more shades you have, the more depth you can create to this look, but really you just need a light, almost yellow, gold shimmery shadow (or highlighting powder) and a warmer, almost brown, gold shadow (preferably in a cream formula). Start with the darker, warmer shadow and apply that to the base of the eye lid, stopping right at the crease — I adore Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick in Rose Gold ($24 at sephora.com) for this effect. Then use the lighter, cooler shadow and apply that at the crease of the lid and blend it in with the lower lid — bareMinerals Eyecolor in Queen Phyllis ($14 at sephora.com) does the trick nicely. Lastly use an eyeliner brush to apply the lighter shadow right at the corner of the eye and along the lower lash line, creating a glowing rim around your eyes. If you feel the need you can finish this look off with a thin black line of eyeliner or, my favorite, just some mascara.
