One look at the beautiful faces on the 2011 Emmy Awards red carpet and you could make out four very strong trends.

Barely There, Nude Faces
Heidi Klum, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rachael Harris showed the new class of young ladies on the red carpet how it’s done with barely there, light makeup that allowed their natural beauty to shine through.

Darkly Lined Eyes With Bold Lips
While the ladies above wanted neutral, Angela Kinsey, Claire Danes and Jayma Mays threw their style into overdrive. With dark lined upper lids and bright bold lip colors, this trio was ready to rock the red carpet.

Ghostly Pale, Shimmery Cheeks
This look had me a little perplexed! It’s only September, not the middle of winter, but Dianna Agron, Julianna Marguiles and Evan Rachel Wood looked like they hadn’t seen the sun for months. I have to say the pale cheeks are better than orangey, overly-bronzed ones.

Shiny, Glossy Lips
It wasn’t blondes having all the fun on the red carpet, Sofia Vergara, Minka Kelly and Colbie Smulders gave brunettes a good name with their shiny locks and equally shiny, glossy lips.

What did you think of the beauty trends on the red carpet? Did you have a favorite, or least favorite?
jessica-stroup-rachel-bilson-nina-dobrev-09142011.jpgAt a recent event for the CW network, Jessica Stroup, Rachel Bilson and Nina Dobrev (pictured above left to right) all showed up with similar eye makeup. Each girl wore bronze tones in their crease that accentuated their beautiful eyes. This is a statement best left to the lower lid or crease and should be paired with lighter neutral tan or cream shadows surrounding the crease and brow to offset the richer color.

emma-watson-09072011.jpgIt’s hard not to be jealous of Emma Watson, she has quite a lot going for herself these days. But it’s not the killer career and amazing sense of style (as well as friends in the right places to fuel the style) that gets me the most green, it’s her amazing cuteness! She has this killer pixie cut that looks absolutely stunning on her, yet if I tried it, it would make me look a 12-year-old boy’s head had been plucked up and plopped on my body.

Watching it grow out, I’m really digging how she wears it in a sleek style that usually tucks behind her ear, like she did in this pic at the 2011 GQ Men of the Year Award. What’s refreshing about Emma is that she clearly knows what looks good on her and has a fierce style determination that has been enjoyable to watch unfold.
Lady-Gaga-Harpers-Bazaar.jpgWant to see a barefaced Lady Gaga? Then be sure to pick up the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar, which features the star both on the cover and inside the magazine with next to no makeup!

“Whether I’m wearing lots of makeup or no makeup, I’m always the same person inside,” she told the magazine. She went on to talk about her relationship with the public and how they perceive her look, saying, “I think what has been lovely about my relationship with the public is that they expect something unexpected from me.”

We think it’s fairly obvious that Gaga is free-spirited, and she agrees! She confessed to the magazine, “Even when I was a kid, I used to run around naked with the babysitter, driving her crazy.” Gaga does yoga, Bikram, runs, eats healthy, dances … “I keep in shape by working hard,” she said.

The October issue of Harper’s Bazaar will be on newsstands September 27. See more from the photo shoot here.

zoe-saldana-katie-holmes-vma-08281011.jpgIn my humble opinion, the best part of any award show is the style. And as someone who loves the switch in seasons, I was psyched to see some great fall trends emerge at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. While some celebs opted for puckers that popped in wild shades, Zoe Saldana and Katie Holmes rocked the classic for fall, barely there nude lips.

The trick to nude lips is grabbing a nude (not just “tan”) lipcolor that is only one shade lighter at most than your normal lip color. If you’re trying to go even lighter you’ll need to heavily moisturize and try dabbing a tiny bit of tinted moisturizer on lips and especially around the outline of your mouth.
