kate-hudson.jpg Almay has announced actress Kate Hudson as their newest global brand ambassador, stating the actress would be involved in various company-sponsored philanthropic and fund-raising events, as well as serving as the face of new and existing Almay products. Hudson will appear in global multimedia campaigns that include TV, print, in-store and Internet placements.

In a statement, Hudson said, “Almay is known for its fresh, effortless approach to beauty. I share that philosophy and I’m honored to be partnering with a brand that believes cosmetics should bring out the natural beauty inside every woman. At the end of the day, we all want to have fun and feel beautiful — that’s what Almay is all about.”

The 31 year old actress, who signed a multi-year contract with Revlon Inc, Almay’s parent company, joins model Elaine Irwin Mellencamp and actress Leslie Bibb as celebrity spokeswomen for the brand; Mellencamp came aboard in 2004, Bibb in 2008.

“She is smart, confident and vivacious. Her energy and youthful spirit are contagious,” Revlon president and CEO Alan T. Ennis said. “Kate is a perfect ambassador for the Almay brand.” 

mary-j-blige3.jpgMary J. Blige, celebrity ambassador of beauty brand Carol’s Daughter, is set to release a new fragrance in collaboration with the brand this summer. My Life by Mary J. Blige, is named in honor of the Grammy winner’s second album, which represented a major turning point in Blige’s life and career.

“I wanted my fragrance to be something special for my female fans,” said Blige. “My fans and I are smart now. We know we’re smart now, but we didn’t know it then. We know we’re beautiful now, we didn’t know it then. We’re educated now, we didn’t know it then. We’re soft, we’re edgy — we’re all those things. And I wanted this perfume to represent every female’s everyday life.”

Blige had complete input into the scent’s creation. “I have to be involved,” she said. “Because when your name is attached to something, and it’s not good, that’s your name. So I prefer a good name rather than vanity and riches.” The scent’s top notes are gardenia petals, Bartlett pear and white freesia; the heart is tuberose, blooming jasmine, gold lily and apricot flower, and the drydown is cashmere woods, praline, sesame and incense.

My Life will retail for $46 for 1.7 oz. The scent will be available exclusively on HSN starting on July 31st, and will arrive in department stores across the U.S. next year.

Supermodel Gisele Bündchen has launched a new natural, eco-friendly skincare line called Sejaa Pure Skincare. The line promises to use “thoughtful” packaging and recycled paper; whole plant extracts and 100% natural ingredients.

Bündchen told Vogue magazine that she decided to develop the skincare line after a humbling experience working with abused girls and women. “I wanted to teach girls to love themselves and take care of their bodies,” she says, “I have made the simplest, purest cream - an everyday cream - but it comes with an affirmation. I want to help myself in any way I can to be more conscious, more present, more aware, more happy. And if my philosophy or products can help to make others happy, then I’ve been successful.”
