avon-mega-effects-mascara.jpgBefore I could even get my hands on Avon’s new Mega Effects Mascara, Selena Gomez had already hit the red carpet wearing it for the Young Hollywood wards earlier this month. Now that I’ve had some time to test drive the Avon Mega Effects Mascara for myself, I can see why Selena’s lashes looked so lush that night. The wand is an innovative beauty breakthrough — it has a flexible, bendable, multi-position handle that allows you to apply the mascara to just the spots you want.

When I first pulled the wand out of its “house” I was worried about clumps. But I can truthfully say the formula is beautifully glossy and gives just the right volume to my limp lashes without clumping. The little bristles are arranged on the wand in such a way that you can get every lash, every angle, perfectly coated. Best of all it removes pretty easily with my regular makeup remover but stays on during the day with no problem. If you prefer a more natural looking, barely there lash this might not be the mascara for you, but for a full on dramatic, look-at-me kind of lash, this is your best pick.

Unfortunately, I can’t help you easily copy Naya Rivera’s amazing abs (those require hours of gym time and probably some diet changes). I can, however, give you the steps to recreating her beautiful, long, loose curls. John Frieda stylist, Clyde Haygood, gave the full scoop on how he got Naya’s hair to look that good.

Step 1 - Prep

Clyde applied Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Original Formula ($9.99 at to Naya’s wet hair before blow-drying. “We wanted sleek, defined waves. We knew this serum would help give us the sleek, controlled style we were aiming to achieve and keep her hair frizz-free all night long.”

Step 2 - Style

Next, Clyde used a curling iron with a 1 ½ inch barrel. After wrapping each section around the iron, he pinned each curl with a duckbill clip and sprayed Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray ($5.95 at to set.

Step 3 - Perfect

Once the curls cooled, Clyde carefully brushed hair out and spritzed Frizz-Ease 100% Shine Glossing Mist ($5.99 at throughout for definition and added shine. “To replicate the look and feel of the leather outfit, we saturated Naya’s hair with as much of the shine spray as possible for that silky and smooth finish.”

amanda-seyfried-080713.jpgWhile Amanda Seyfried is out doing red carpet promotions for her new movie, Lovelace, she is apparently testing out new looks. On Aug. 4 (pictured left) she hit Las Vegas and went with a bold, deep red lip color and slightly subdued eye look. The strong lip paired with her light locks and white ensemble looked a bit garish against her fair skin, but hey she was in Sin City after all! Then on Aug. 5 (pictured right) she stepped out in Los Angeles with a more subtle, barely noticeable lip color that was in stark contrast to yesterday’s can’t-miss-it color. This time, the emphasis was clearly on her eyes, as she went for a deep, smoky eye look and pulled her hair back in a high chignon that created a more dramatic effect to her look.

Personally I preferred her in the more natural lip with the darker eye … what about you? Post a comment and share which version of Amanda Seyfried’s look you preferred.
I wish I had had this product when I was pregnant … alas I only found out about it in the past several years and yet it brings my aching legs instant relief when I need it most. On the latest episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian reached for Mama Mio’s Lucky Legs to provide her the relief she needed. Mama Mio claims that Lucky Legs is a “cooling serum (that) boosts circulation to reduce discomfort in a flash. Packed with energizing oils and refreshing spearmint to revive tired legs and de-puff swollen feet.” I can say first hand that it soothes aching muscles and provides an aromatherapy experience that soothes the soul.

I will openly admit that Scandal has become my guilty pleasure TV fix. But it’s been a lesser-known secret (until now that is) that I am obsessed with Kerry Washington’s lips. They always look so flawlessly glossy and lined and sometimes natural and sometimes bright, but always absolutely perfect! So I did some digging around on the Internet and discovered that the makeup artists on the show are huge fans of Tarte and Clinique products on all of the Scandal starlets. Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm in Whole Lotta Honey is one of their fave go-tos (they also mentioned using Fuller Fig, Woppin Watermelon, Mighty Mimosa and Bountiful Blush). But to get just the right amount of color under that layer of soft shine, they use Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster in Buff as a base layer.
