natural-makeup.jpgSummer’s almost here and you know what that means: Time to toss aside the rich foundations and matte creams in favor of lighter products that allow the skin to breathe. It’s also time to give the evil eye to your gorgeous coworker/friend/sister who is lucky enough to be able to go completely bare-faced when temperatures soar.

Though you should ease up on the amount of cosmetics you use in the summer, it doesn’t mean you need to give it up altogether. If you can’t bear the thought of going without makeup (or aren’t as lucky as Miss Baby Skin), we have some tips and recommendations to keep you looking beautiful and natural.

Tinted moisturizer
tinted.bmpDuring the hotter months, the last thing we want to do is pile heavy cream and powder foundations on top of our over-hated skin. If you must use a base, tinted moisturizers have come a long way in the last few years. Coverage ranges from sheer to medium, and are light enough to give you coverage while keeping you  cool and refreshed. Apply with fingers for more control, or with a damp sponge for a more sheer application. Bonus: the dampened sponge feels amazing on skin, especially when the weather is muggy.

Touch of Bronzer
bronze.bmpBronzer is perfect to warm you up and add a little color to pasty winter skin. Apply where the sun would naturally hit your face - forehead, nose, cheeks and chin— with a fan-shaped brush to get a subtle, sun-kissed look.

Powder eyeliner
liner.bmpEyeliner can very easily go from sexy to smudged in the humid weather. If you’re absolutey against going out without liner, trade your gels and liquids for a powder formula applied close to the lashline with a slanted or straight edged liner brush.

Light eye shadow
shadow.bmpThere’s nothing worse than a heavy, smoky eye in the summer….except a sweaty, creased smoky eye. Instead, keep shadow light in shades that compliment your skin. Tip:  Bronze and Gold hues look gorgeous with tanned skin and glossy lips.

Tinted lipbalm
lip.bmpHeavy lipsticks and glosses are the arch-enemy of tousled tresses in the summer wind, so skip both and opt for a tinted lip balm. These balms do double duty by moisturizing sun-chapped lips and adding the perfect sheer hint of color.

Waterproof mascara
mascara.bmpThis is a no-brainer, but in case you need reminding: water/seat + regular mascara = raccoon eyes. NOT summer sexy. Most likely your favorite comes in a waterproof formula. Bonus? Waterproof mascaras tend to hold curl better. Hello gorgeous (budge-proof) lashes!

Today in New York City, the CW upfronts took place to officially announce the network’s Fall lineup…and the CW girls brought their A-Game. Here are our favorite looks from some of our favorite stylish stars, along some new faces as well!

cwup.jpg90210’s Gillan Zinser and AnnaLynne McCord both rocked beachy, surfer-girl waves and rocker makeup— Gillian with a serious red lip, and AnnaLynne with a sexy cat eye and a pinky-nude pout.

Shiri Appleby, of Life Unexpected, kept cheeks rosy, lips pink, and the rest of the face fresh…complemented by clean, glossy hair befitting the young, hip mom she plays on the show.

The Nikita girls brought serious glam to the carpet; Lyndsey Fonseca’s girl next door glam boasted perfectly tousled waves and a natural face, while Maggie O countered with
a smokey eye and rosy lips and cheeks. Most of the drama was left to O’s gorgeously long, jet black hair.

Zuzanna Szadkowski, Gossip Girl’s beloved Dorota, was luminous with dewy skin and a bronzed eye that made her blues pop. Tousled waves completed the fresh look.

Hellcats indeed! The new show’s stars vamped along the arrivals bay…unexpected from the former Disney cuties! Ashley Tisdale (her hair currently dark) sported sunkissed skin and highlights, set off by a smokey eye. Stunner Aly Michalka was our favorite of the day… just look at those ringlets! Skin was sunkissed and makeup was flirty with a smokey grey eye and peachy lip.

The Vampire DiariesNina Dobrev gothed it up with an alluring side style offset by shocking blue feathers and retro makeup - a cat eye and fresh, peachy hues.

Even though the weather’s been a little bit crazy lately, summer is just around the corner. And let me tell you, when the season heats up, you’re going to want to make sure your beauty routine doesn’t have a meltdown. So it’s the perfect time to experiment with color, lighten up a bit, look on the bright side.

That’s why I’m so excited about Tokidoki’s exclusive collection at Sephora. It’s super cute, there are gorgeous colors and the packaging is adorable.

I’m dying to get my hands on everything from this beyond-cute new line and live in color!

Socialize_2product-01.jpgWork, drinks, repeat. Normally, our regular eye treatment does its job, but once in a while when we have to have just one more margarita

Enter Elizabeth Grant’s The Socializer. This two in one product was created to depuff and refresh the eye area, both AM and PM, no matter how late the evening lasted.

Bright Lights (AM) illuminates your under eye area with light-reflecting particles to brighten dark circles. Peptides reduce fine lines and plump skin for a smoother, more youthful appearance. Late Nights (PM) contains algae to de-puff, chamomile to soothe, and Vitamin B to repair the skin. Both formulas also have Torricelumn, a powerful anti-aging compound, exclusive to Grant’s products.

The easy-to-apply click pens fit perfectly into your makeup bag or clutch…just in case you don’t make it home (we won’t tell).
