Fashion week is all the buzz these past few weeks, and will continue to show up in blog and fashion sites all over the web for a while, we’re sure. We’ve gotten peaks into our share of shows, but were taken aback by the gorgeous, ultra-fem braided crowns shown at the Erin Fetherston show. Since the Heidi-inspired look makes us want to skip in a field of sunflowers in a gauzy gown, we knew it was one for our lookbooks!

Soon after our initial Erin Fetherston inspiration and infatuation, we saw photos of Jessica Alba’s double braided headband from the 2011 Orange British Academy Film Awards that reminded us of a look Sienna Miller rocked a few years back. We’re totally loving the milkmaid updo, and think it would even be cute with your hair down.

The look is simple to achieve, but is best accomplished with longer hair. You can either french braid the ‘do into your hair (a la Jessica Alba) or wrap a long braid, starting at your ear, around your head and pin it back. Either way, you really can’t go wrong. To finish off the look, and make it appear effortless, pull a few loose pieces of hair out around your ears, and the nape of your neck. Voila!
MAC-Fix-+.jpgYour makeup savior? M.A.C Fix+. We’ve been obsessed with this product for years, not only for its powers of keeping makeup in place for hours and hours, but because it’s so utterly refreshing!

Admittedly, we’ve long been fans of any facial spray. From La Mer to Dermalogica, there’s just something pretty amazing about a few spritzes from a bottle that perk up your entire face. But this one from M.A.C really takes the cake, due to its ability to set makeup and make sure it just doesn’t move!

And, of course, we love the combination of vitamins and minerals that are super-calming to the skin. A mix of green tea, chamomile and cucumber just couldn’t be more soothing!

So go ahead, try Fix+. We dare you not to fall in love.

When we first received our package from L’Oreal Paris containing their new Magic Smooth Souffle makeup, we read through their product information and all we could think of was “Huh?” With terminology like elastomer, microspheres and Mati-Crystal Technology, no wonder it’s just put simply as magic

But, confusion aside, I prepped my face for using the mousse-textured foundation, and started applying with my fingers. I definitely had a preconceived idea of what this was going to look like on my face. I used to be a regular user of Maybelline’s mousse foundation - mostly because of the coverage - but switched to mineral makeup because of the dull, matte look it left on my skin. I was pleasantly surprised, though, because my face was smooth and luminous.

The consistency starts out thick and creamy, and as you apply it to your face, it turns velvety and dry (but not drying.) I was most impressed with by the Magic Smooth Souffle makeup was the even application. I always have a hard time getting even coverage with liquid/cream foundations, but not the case here. My face felt nicely primed for blush and eye makeup, and light as air (I really hate that cakey feeling, as we’re sure most ladies do.) Though the shade we were provided with was a touch too light, I’m sure I could find the right  tone in the dozen colors available.

After the 10-hours-of-use mark, my face was still intact from the morning application. Plus, my oily complexion seemed much more under control than it normally is. The only thing I wish it delivered was some SPF, but sounds like a winner to me! $14.99,
