MAC-Haute-&-Naughty-Lash.jpgTruth be told, we're addicted to mascara. The longer it makes our lashes, the better. And if we're wearing our glasses and our lashes are brushing up against them? We consider the mascara a complete success.

At the top of our list right now is most definitely M.A.C Haute & Naughty Lash. This mascara features a dual-wiper system that allows you to customize and build the coverage upon your lashes to your liking. (If you're like us, you want to look like you're wearing falsies.)

The packaging is truly intriguing. One wiper refines the application for a clean sweep across the lashes, while the other liberally packs the mascara onto lashes for unbelievably strong impact. The "wipers" are both contained within the top of the tube — the pink contains the smaller wand, while the purple holds the bigger.

We've actually found that applying two coats with the pink wand makes our lashes look unbelievable for every day. One coat with the purple wand adds full-on drama for night.

It's that time of year again ... when the holiday party invites stack up and you have to - literally - put your best face forward. If you're feeling a bit iffy about your look this season, don't worry - we've got some tried and true tips that will ensure you'll be the life of any holiday party.

IT'S TIME TO HYDRATE!

This is true regardless of whether you've got a fancy party to go to, really - but drinking lots of water will only help your skin. Facialists and aestheticians really do know what they're talking about when they tell you to drink up - your skin will be fresh, rejuvenated and so healthy-looking. Not to mention it's always good to have lots of water in your system before downing any alcoholic beverages. We recommend drinking at least 1.5 liters a day, if not 2 full liters.

Clarins-Beauty-Flash-Balm.jpgGET YOUR GLOW ON

You're rushing out the door to a party and don't really have time for a full face of makeup. Not a problem - just reach for a balm that, when applied to your cheeks and contours, gives you just the right amount of glow. We love Clarins Beauty Flash Balm ($45 at clarins.com) - a little bit really goes a long way to providing radiance and luminosity.

NARS-Single-Eyeshadow-Etrusque.jpgGO FOR THE GLITZ

The holidays are definitely the time for a little (or a lot!) of sparkle. Why not make your eyes stand out with a glittery eyeshadow? Our favorites are definitely by NARS, Stila and M.A.C (like NARS Single Eyeshadow in Etrusque, above — $23 at beauty.com) — they all have amazing colors in every hue imaginable.

Farrah-Fawcett-Hair.jpg

At the Golden Globe nominations this week, Katie Holmes was sporting a flirty, retro 'do - an updated, nouveau version of Farrah Fawcett's ever-popular hairdo. The full-bodied look, in our opinion, looks fantastically lovely, and would be a great topper for any holiday outfit. It's polished, yet fun, flirty and sexy. Also, rocking the evergreen, sassy coif is princess-to-be Kate Middleton, and even Whitney Port has donned the look.

An easy way to get height and body to a heavily layered cut is by spraying your roots with a volumnizer, and drying your hair in 2-inch segments with a large barrel brush. To add that extra flip to your ends, finish them off with a big curling iron of at least 1.5 inches. Voila! Gorgeous, full hair.

What do you think of the retro look? Would you try it?

Philosophy-Image.jpgIn a bind over what to get your loved ones this holiday season? We have a great idea — why not shower everyone on your gift list with adorable gift sets from Philosophy? We honestly can't pick a true favorite, because every single one is cuter than the next. But here are just a few of the many — there's no other word for it, adorable! — gift sets they're offering this holiday season.

Did you know that many of the images on Philosophy packaging are of the actual members of the company and their families? It gives such a special touch. Such is the case with Have a Cherry Christmas ($18), which includes the brand's famed 3-in-1 and a high-flavor lip shine.

You'll certainly feel all sorts of toasty warm with Warm and Toasty ($25) — a set of three absolutely delectable 3-in-1s including Hazelnut Espresso, Hot Buttered Rum and Double Rich Hot Cocoa.

Mmmm, marshmallows. They always make us think of S'mores — especially in this Melting Marshmallow set ($22). Delight in a 3-in-1, body lotion and high-flavor lip shine scented with the delicious aroma of gooey, melt-in-your-mouth marshmallows.

We're dreaming of ... waking up and finding this adorable set under the tree! (Yes, we know this post is about what to buy for others, but this one is especially for us.) The 3-piece I'm Dreaming Of... Set ($25) includes 3-in-1s scented with fruity white pear, white peach and white cranberry. Yum.

All gift sets are available at philosophy.com.

Recently, on a trip to Sally Beauty Supply with a friend, we stumbled across a shampoo and conditioner we remember using in the past with satisfactory results, and decided to pick up two 32-ounce bottles for a whopping... $6.49. Yes, we had stumbled across a BOGO. A beauty junkie like us simply cannot resist 64 ounces of hair product for under $7, especially when we're used to paying at least four times as much!

Well, we're here to tell you not to let the weird, horse-marked, cheap labeling distract you from the full-hair-to-be glory that awaits. After a few days of use, our hair is thicker, shinier and more texturized.

Reviews online point to signs of being drying, though we haven't really noticed any drying in our locks. We were sure to leave the conditioner in for about three minutes, though, so maybe that's the difference. And though we were a bit thrown by the human and animal directions on the bottles (this was traditionally used for horses, evidently), the super rich lather and the light, clean scent of the shampoo took away our skepticism.

After applying a little serum to our wet strands, we blow-dried our hair with a flat paddle brush, and had head-turning results (we promise, we're pretty sure people's heads were turning!...well, maybe.) This diamond in the rough is definitely worth a try. $6.49, sallybeauty.com
