I don't worry about fine lines and wrinkles -- and it's not because I'm too young for such things! For one thing worrying causes fine lines and wrinkles so that would be counterproductive, and for another I know Say Yes To Blueberries has me covered. Their Brightening Facial Towelettes are my go to when I feel my skin needs a pick-me-up, quick cleanse, or just a refresher. I keep a pack at my desk, one in my gym bag and one at home to ensure I'm never without my secret weapon.

Swipe the soft cloth across your face and let the pre-moistened towelette do it's job, they do a great job at removing makeup or sweat and grime and leave skin feeling refreshed and moisturized.

Say Yes to Blueberries Brightening Facial Towelettes are available for $7.99 at ulta.com.
facecream_smh.jpgWhen asked to choose a sample at Sephora recently, I selected Korres' Quercetin & Oak Antiwrinkle Night Cream.

Who wouldn't want a night cream that promises you'll have "firmer, more elastic skin after just one application of this intensively nourishing and hydrating essential."

And guess what, it worked. For me, at least.

I applied, as directed, at night to my face and neck, specifically underneath and around my eyes. The next morning my skin felt hydrated and, dare I say it, smoother. Looks like I'll actually have to purchase the stuff as this 0.34 fl oz tube won't last long. Fair warning: it smells like Play Doh. But if you're like me and have fond memories of Play Doh as a kid, you won't really mind it.

Regenerist-Night-Resurfacing-Elixir[1].jpg
I have to admit, when I first got my hands on Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Elixir, I was a little hesitant — and, yes, scared. "Resurfacing" sounded like such an intense word for my sensitive skin. But then I realized I was overreacting, because nothing from Olay has ever been, or will ever be, harsh on any skin type!

So I got over my fears and slathered this leave-on nighttime moisturizer all over my skin. Skin, I'll have you know, that was dry, breaking out and far from its beautiful best.

Well, imagine my surprise and delight when, in just one treatment, my skin already looked a MILLION times better. When I woke up the next morning, the dryness was gone and the pimples were fading. I felt like I was looking at a different face from the night before - and the results have only improved in the few weeks I've been testing it out. I'm glowing, radiant and look as if I've gotten a facial or (gasp!) had work done.

Not to mention, I absolutely love the formula. The gel-like consistency has a touch of shimmer to it, so it's like there's a party in my apartment every night before bed. Thanks to glycolic acid that permeates the upper layers of the skin's surface and increases natural exfoliation, it works with the body's nightly changes to smooth skin in just one week. This moisturizer actually works as well as a professional light chemical peel.

You'll also find humectants like glycerin and glycol, Pal-KTTKS (Regenerist's proprietary, signature anti-aging penta-peptide) and skin soothers like pro-vitamin B5 and allantoin within the formula.

What all this boils down to? At the end of the day, I'm reaching for my Olay.

Olay Regenerist Night Resurfacing Elixir retails for $24.99. Check olay.com for retail information.
FAB-Facial-Radiance-pads.jpg
When we first popped the top on the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads, we were instantly transported to our middle and high school years as acne-troubled teens in need of Clearisil. The pads are so similar in size and texture, that we couldn't help but be nostalgic (well, not really.). But alas, our skin is relatively clear these days, and these pads don't sting, or dry out our skin quite like the facial pads of our youth.

Granted, First Aid Beauty's (FAB) pads aren't acne-killers. They are formulated with a balance of lactic and glycolic acids to - as the product totes - improve skin clarity, visibly reduce pore size, and help with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They are alcohol-free, so they shouldn't dry out your skin, and claim they are safe for sensitive skin.

After the first few days of using FAB's facial pads in place of our usual toner, we didn't really notice much difference. We started thinking that maybe they were too sensitive to actually help us see much of a difference in our skin. We usually tend to think that products only work if we feel them working - as in, tingling, burning, etc. Well, just the other day - we'd say after about two weeks of twice daily use - we looked in the mirror and were happily stunned at what our skin looked like without makeup. It was smoother, brighter, and our pores were actually slightly smaller than we could remember (unless our eyes were playing tricks on us.)

After reading up on reviews online, some people complained about breakouts (we didn't experience this, and trust us - our skin is more sensitive than a wet tissue), but most were incredibly happy with their results. For $28, you get 60 pads, which is good for a month if used morning and night.

Bottom line? Were excited about our two-week results, and can't wait to see what our skin looks like after another two weeks. Try it, give it some time, and you shouldn't be disappointed. $28, sephora.com

Sugar-and-Spice.jpg
When the weather cools off, and the leaves start turning, nothing is more comforting than warm, sweet and spicy scents - whether in the kitchen or on your body! Blanket yourself in fall aromas with these five indulgent goodies.

1. Philosophy Trick or Treat Lip Shine Duo, $18. Pumpkin spice and caramel apple? Yes, please! These high-shine glosses smell and taste fantastic, adding a nice sheer hint of color. Though they are a little stickier than we would have liked, we didn't mind, because Philosophy goodies are formulated without parabens, sulfates, GMOs and triclosan.

2. Philosophy The Gingerbread Man Scrub, $25. We adore scrubs for this brand. They have the perfect amount of grain (not too soft, not too rough), plus they warm up marvelously as you work them onto your skin in the tub or bath. The spicy, gingery scent of this cookie-inspired scrub is light, and refreshing, and stays on your skin for a good amount of time.

3. Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Peel, $44. PTR is known for their anti-aging products, and their pumpkin peel is no exception. We loved how soft our skin was after just one use, and the fantastic scent is addicting. Plus, we were originally afraid it might be too much for our sensitive facial skin to handle, but there was no reaction, or left over breakouts!

4. Fresh Sugar Plum Lip Treatment SPF 15, $22.50. Give us a sweet, SPF-laden, sheerly tinted and silky lip product any day. Fresh's new plum hue is fantastic for fall because it's sweet, and pairs perfectly with wind blushed cheeks. The twist at the bottom of the stick is great for securing the top nicely, so we don't have to worry about the top coming off in our bags. Though a little pricey, it will most likely last for months.

5. Cranberry Joy Shimmer Lotion by the Body Shop, $16. For us, the mouthwatering cranberry scent from the Body Shop is our favorite holiday scent. Though its more reminiscent of Christmas than of fall (to us, at least), the light shimmer it leaves on your skin looks beautiful in soft autumnal light.

During fashion week, there are so many mixers, events, parties...it's easy to get lost in the swag. Some of us still have freebies sitting around from LAST season (eek!), so when approached at a mixer about a new eye cream by the creator herself, we kept one ear on the party and didn't expect much.

the_ultimate_eyecream.pngLisa Ashley, the creator, approached a group of us and asked for a few minutes to tell us about her Ultimate Eye Cream. She told us briefly about its features and benefits, demonstrated the product for us on our hands, and asked us for business cards before leaving us to enjoy the mixer. Impressed by her soft yet professional pitch, genuine passion for her product, and ok....curiosity about the wild claims (eliminates need for concealer! covers imperfections without color! masks redness and dark circles! smooths wrinkles and fine lines!), the cream stayed fresh in mind all night, and was begging to be tested the very next day.

First, we did some more research. From the site:

After years in the laboratory, combining the most advanced ingredients to create a multi-functioning product that delivers ultimate and immediate results, Lisa Ashley introduces The Ultimate Eyecream. A truly groundbreaking beauty product with some of the most advanced and innovative features in the cosmetics industry.

"Lisa Ashley, The Ultimate Eyecream" uniquely integrates six different benefits into one eyecream:

  1. helps to firm skin, reduces puffiness, and inflammation.
  2. special light diffusing properties gives the illusion of instantly neutralizing dark circles, brightening eye area while leaving a luminous glow.
  3. increases blood circulation and helps to improve lightness of dark circles.
  4. unique blend of ingredients gives the appearance of significantly softening lines.
  5. a natural alternative to silicone, rejuvenates and hydrates skin while also providing strong antioxidant protection.
  6. distinctive steel roller ball application helps soothe and minimizes inflammation.

Tall order, huh?

We weren't expecting much - generic white packaging, sticker label, "illuminating" roller ball design seen on many a trendy eye product - but let us say: WOW.

The product did exactly as it claimed, and then some- brightened, smoothed, soothed, and we barely had to touch our concealer (For the record, this is after years of piling on heavy duty concealers to mask our hereditary dark circles).

A complete winner in our book. We'd gladly pay double the cost.

stylebakerybeauty:images:philosophy:boostercaps.jpg For a long time I was afraid to get on the Retinol train because I thought it would be too harsh for my skin, but it's definitely one of those ingredients that skincare experts agree plays a role in anti-aging. So I finally took the plunge and have added a Retinol product into my skin-care routine. Right now, I'm using philosophy booster caps. It took me a little bit to figure out how frequent to use, but I really am liking the results. I use once a week—I'm incorporating this in with my regular exfoliating products and face masks too; it's a whole process—and I'm noticing a difference with regular use.

Available at Sephora (60 capsules for $50).

There are some days when we just love our jobs, and yesterday was certainly one of them. On one of the most gorgeous and warm April days in memory, we were treated to a delicious rooftop lunch at the Gramercy Park Hotel by the folks at Aveeno. We spent a few hours soaking up the fresh air, chatting with friends, sipping cocktails and testing out beauty products. If only every work day were this glamourous...

While enjoying the gorgeous setting, we had the opportunity to test out a brand new anti-aging line of products called Aveeno® Ageless Vitality™. This Elasticity Recharging System is a 2-step treatment that is patented for the treatment of the signs of aging. The result of years of research, we were told the system works by recharging skin's elasticity and restoring its youthful look. OK, you had us at the "youthful" part.

aveeno_ageless.jpg

We had the opportunity to meet some of the scientists behind the product who explained all the technical stuff about why and how it works on reducing lines and wrinkles, diminishing age spots and improving firmness, and we were officially impressed. But what really impressed us immediately was the fabulous packaging and thoughtfulness that went into creating a system that seems more akin to luxury brands than this affordable drugstore brand.

Each of the 3 systems (Day with SPF30, Night and Eye) includes 4 individually packaged 1-week tubes of the special biomineral concentrate. Referred to as "the gray stuff" by the Aveeno scientist, this is the truly special part of the system that attacks all of your trouble areas. The individual tubes keep the concentrate as fresh and pure as possible, a detail that we loved. Also enclosed in each of the systems is a special cream which activates the biomineral concentrate, so the two products work together for maximum effectiveness. We were especially wowed by the night cream which came packaged in a special pump that was so luxe, we can't wait to add it to our nightly routine.

We tested out the various creams and of course the magical "gray stuff" on our hands and everything felt luxuriously silky and had a light, pleasant scent. We were each given the full regimen to take home with us and are excited to give it a proper at-home testing. Here's looking forward to our new youthful-looking selves.
