During award season the Grammys give us a break from the actors (well most of them, at least) and let us focus on seeing our favorite music stars shine. At last night's celebration we saw many looks -- these are our absolute favorites of the night.

pink_grammys2010.bmpWith her hair adorned with a pretty star pin, our favorite rocker chick Pink took on a softer look with gorgeous flushed pink cheeks and lips, a fabulous complement to her very pretty lashed-out eye look.

nicole_kidman_grammys2010.jpgNicole Kidman looks great as a blonde, but we are loving that she's gone back to her natural red hue. To compliment her fair complexion, her makeup was kept light and dewy with a pretty pink lip color finished her look-- gorgeous!

carrie_underwood_grammys2010.jpgCarrie Underwood can do no wrong in our book when it comes to hair and makeup. She recently had her tresses cut, and we love it. With a side-swept part and amazing highlights (who does her color? we'd love to know), the country superstar opted to go with her signature smoky eye look and glossy nude lip.

rihanna_grammys2010.jpgWhile we're not huge fan's of the hairstyle Rihanna chooses to rock, we admit it's growing on us. The edgy musical darling softened her look up a bit for the night with icy white shadow and lots of long lashes.

jenniferlopez_grammys2010.bmpJennifer Lopez has enough experience under her belt to know what works for her. Soft, voluminous waves and a fierce smoky eye are nothing new for her, but we still think she looks amazing.

ciara_grammys2010.jpgHaving amazing skin is the first step to always having makeup look its best. Case in point, Ciara. The songstress could have gone completely bare-faced and looked amazing. Instead her makeup artist complimented her flawless skin with perfectly groomed brows and frosty pink lip.

taylor_swift_grammys2010.bmpEven with an updo, Taylor Swift kept her look youthful and elegant. We love her winged-out liner and bright pink lips that were a fabulous contrast to her blue sequined gown.

lea_michele_grammys2010.bmpLea Michele has made our list of faves for the SAG awards and the Golden Globes, and for good reason-- she always looks fantastic. At the Grammys the Glee star upped the ante by going with a more bold eye look and shiny, sleek locks.

adam_lambert_grammys2010.bmpWe had to put Adam Lambert on our list. Why not? The guy always rocks the best eye makeup look.

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards are special in that it's industry pros showing love for their peers. It's a fun night we love to see that celebrates the talent and amazing work put on TV and film. We watch to see how our favorite actress will be wearing their hair and makeup, of course-- take a look at our favorites of the night, and see if you agree.

penelope_cruz_2010sagawards.bmpPenelope Cruz didn't really wow us at last week's Golden Globes, but we were loving the soft, flowing hair and signature eye makeup at the SAG awards.

lea_michele_2010sagawards.bmpLea Michele made our list of picks once again with her strong brows and nude lip look. This time around, the Glee star wore her hair in a more casual way, opting for shiny, soft curls.

sandra_bullock_2010sagawards.bmpSandra Bullock wore her hair quite simple, but her skin looked amazing and her makeup was flawless. Shimmery pink shadow, beautifully smudged liner and glossy lip kept the award-winner looking radiant.

kate_hudson_2010sagawards.bmpIn more of a natural makeup look, Kate Hudson was stunning and couldn't have looked better. We loved the soft texture of her updo that was the perfect compliment to her amazing backless gown.

mo'nique_2010sag.jpgMo'Nique wore her hair down with a soft flip and also chose a more natural makeup look, sticking to bronze tones that added the right amount of depth and definition to her face. The Precious star kept emphasis on her beautiful eyes with some false lashes and perfectly groomed brows.

diane_kruger_2010sagawards.bmpIn the sea of defined eyes and nude lips, Diane Kruger stood out with her bronzed eyes and red lips; her braided updo was a great compliment for her asymmetrical gown.

rutina_wesley_2010sagawards.jpgKohl-rimmed eyes and lots of lashes gave Rutina Wesley a much more glamorous, dolled-up look than True Blood fans are used to seeing. With her hair in a simple bun, her sparkling necklace lit up her face, complimenting bronze-toned cheeks and glossy lips.

kyra_sedgwick_2010sagawards.jpgKyra Sedgwick kept her makeup look shimmer-free and it worked beautifully. We loved the soft pink cheeks and lips that didn't compete with her more dramatic eye makeup.

Many looks caught our eyes at this year's Golden Globe awards. From hair in everything from loose waves to simple updos and makeup that enhanced each stars natural beauty, these looks were not only our favorites, but will also be the inspiration for the spring season ahead.

kate_hudson_goldenglobes2010.jpgKate Hudson's classic updo was simply OK, but her makeup was fabulous. Black-rimmed eyes, bronze cheeks and pretty peach lips were a flawless compliment to her amazing white gown.

christina_aguilera.jpgChristina Aguilera was a stunner with her sleek bob and glowing skin. Her smoky grey eye makeup enhanced her blue eyes gorgeously and the look was completed with a glossy pink lip.

julia_roberts_golden_globes2010.bmp

Julia Roberts knows how to rock the loose waves. And we, of course, love them on her. The newly appointed Lancome spokeswoman flashed her beloved smile and reminded us why we love seeing her on the red carpet.

zoe_saldana_goldenglobes2010.jpg

Zoe Saldana kept her makeup in the same color family as her gown without actually matching it. We love the sheer wash of mauve on her cheeks and kohl-rimmed eyes.

lea_michele_goldenglobes2010.jpg

Lea Michele absolutely wowed us with her glamorous, yet understated, look that was all about lashes, lashes, and more lashes.

helen_mirren_goldenglobes2010.bmpWith glossy pink lips and her hair in volumized waves, Helen Mirren was the picture of timeless and glamorous beauty.

drew_barrymore_goldenglobes2010.jpg

Drew Barrymore couldn't have looked better Sunday night. Her simple updo was the best complement for her gorgeous, glowing skin, enhanced with a subtle smoky eye and red lipstick.

Anna_Kendrick_goldenglobes2010.jpg

Newcomer Anna Kendrick grabbed our attention with her soft, romantic look. We loved the loose tendrils falling from her loose updo and her full lashes really stood out against the light eyeshadow, making her eyes pop. Shimmery pink gloss added a pretty finishing touch.

If 2009 taught us anything, it's that glamour is back in a big way. While stars like Rihanna and Lady Gaga took major risks (some we loved, some not so much), our favorite stars were always pulling out glamorous, elegant looks that will remain in our memories. These are the 5 looks we loved in 2009.

kate winslet sag awards 2009 2.jpg

Kate Winslet

2009 was Kate's award-winning year not only for her incredible acting ability, but on every red carpet she graced. Her sophisticated and timeless look at the 2009 Screen Actor's Guild Awards is one for the history books.

taraji p henson oscars 2.jpgTaraji P. Henson

We loved this sleek bob hairstyle on Ms. Henson at the Academy Awards. Her gorgeous smoky eye and powder-pink lip was fresh and clean, perfect to show off the star's natural beauty.

rachel_mcadams.jpgRachel McAdams

The Sherlock Holmes star's French braid was definitely grown-up with a bit of texture and volume-- can you say ooh-la-la?

sienna_miller.bmpSienna Miller

For her appearance at the premiere of G.I. Joe , we were dazzled by Sienna's soft waves that were very reminiscent of Veronica Lake.

lauren_conrad.bmpLauren Conrad

The reality star/designer/author made many appearances rocking a bold lip. This retro-inpsired makeup look proved the red lip will always be chic.

salmahayek.jpgSalma Hayek recently debuted a shorter, sleeker style at the Ein Herz fuer Kinder (A Heart for Children) Gala in Berlin, Germany, and we have nothing but good things to say about it. This look flatters her just as much as her longer, more glamorous style did and looks great on many regular people as well; a deep side part helps downplay the width of a round face, and sleek, tapered ends help soften a strong jawline.

Tell us: Do you like Salma's new style?

rachel_mcadams.jpgRachel McAdams appeared at the London premiere of her new film, Sherlock Holmes, looking nothing short of glamorous with a texturized braid to compliment her Grecian-inspired gown. We found out how to create this look from the hairstylist behind this look, Sebastian Stylist Design Team Member Thomas Dunkin.

Dunkin shares his styling tips for recreating a look like Rachel's at home:

1. Start by applying a volumizing product to wet hair.

2. Blow dry in sections, and pin each section in medium and large sized velcro rollers throughout whole head and allow to set for 5-10 minutes.

3. Allow to cool then take down rollers, and spray hair with a dry shampoo for added texture.

Sebastian Professional Microweb Fiber.jpg

4. Emulsify a small dab of Sebastian Professional Microweb Fiber ($16, amazon.com) between palms and run through top of hair. Backcomb front section and manipulate for height and volume. Secure with pins.

5. French braid bottom half of hair starting behind left ear and pin random remaining pieces into braid for haphazard, playful positioning.

6. Finish the look with a medium-hold hairspray for tousled movement and controlled hold.

victoria_beckham_british_fashion_awards_09.jpgVictoria Beckham knows how to put on the wow-factor, and did just that at the British Fashion Awards last week. To compliment the edgy, long black gown from her own Spring 2010 collection,  the designer/mom emphasized her winged-out smokey eye with a dramatic updo and kept her borderline goth look going with a deep nail color.

        diane_kruger_updo2.jpgdiane_kruger_updo.jpg

If you're hitting up any holiday festivities, a playful hairstyle is always in order. We loved Diane Kruger's style when she attended the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards recently and just had to get the scoop on how to get the look. Creating a modern day "twist" on a classic Hollywood style, stylist Richard Marin shared his four simple steps for re-creating this great holiday style at home.

RemingtonProDryer.jpg

First, dry hair with head titled forward using an ionic dryer for maximum shine and volume (try the Remington Professional Dryer, $44.99, stylewithremington.com).

Next, part hair to side, then, using a 1" barrel curling iron, section hair in pieces that are about 1 1/2 inches by 3 inches wide. Curl all the hair in one direction for a uniform wave pattern, and let curls cool to set.

Brush hair out in a downward motion. Keep brush close to scalp, and finger waves will form. Brush waves to one side, and secure in side ponytail.

pearl_barrette.jpg

Finally, roll hair into smooth bun with the ends poking out, and pin into place. Finish with a touch of hairspray and bit of shine spray. To glam it up, add a pretty hair accessory. We found this gorgeous Pearl Barrette at Ulta ($4.50, ulta.com)

natalie-portman2.jpgNatalie Portman is a true fan of the smokey eye, and she always wears it well. At the premiere of her latest film, Brothers, Natalie was exquisite as usual-- her makeup was flawless! We can't help but admire her eye makeup, since this is the time of year we find ourselves rockin' different variations of the classic look.

To create a similar look at home, we suggest you try Maybelline's new Stylish Smokes eyeshadow quad in Natural Smokes. This quad along with the other 3 in the collection has every shadow you'll need to give your peepers the perfect smokey eye. Add some eyeliner and your favorite mascara and you're set to hit the town looking bold and beautiful.

             jessica_biel.jpgjessicabiel.jpg

An effortless-looking hairstyle is always sexy when worn with a more put-together look. Jessica Biel proved this when she complimented her crisp strapless dress, long cardigan and flats with a loose, texurized ponytail for the premiere of the new family film, Planet 51. We're loving the free-spirited feeling of this hairstyle, created by Fekkai stylist Adir Abergel.

fekkai_wave_spray.jpg

To add texture to her hair before securing it in a ponytail, Adir sprayed it with Fekkai Coiff Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray ($23, beauty.com). As an extra boost, he followed this with a little teasing at the crown and made sure to leave some loose pieces around Jessica's face.

gabrielle-union.jpgGabrielle Union's full, glossy hairstyle is easy to acheive and, to the excitement of our wallets, also affordable-- thanks to products by Tresemme. We always find it so refreshing knowing that our favorite stars use the same products we ourselves love.

We got the scoop from Tresemme stylist Tyler Laswell on how he created this full-bodied look for the star:

tresemme_heat_tamer.jpg

To begin, prep hair with TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray ($4.75, drugstore.com) all over.

Next, separate hair into four sections; sides, back of head and top of head. Then, wrap 1" sections around a curling iron, holding the ends. Alternate between a 1" curling iron and a 1 1/2" iron. This adds more demention and volume to the hair.

tresemme_shine_spray.jpg

Once entire head curled, use a blow dryer and just your fingertips to stretch and soften the curls into waves. Finish the look with one of our favorite glossing products, TRESemmé No-Frizz Shine Spray ($4.75, drugstore.com) to create a natural sheen.

                                            blake_lively2.jpg

Blake Lively looked nothing short of amazing-- does this woman ever look bad??-- when she attended Chanel's "Fête d'Hiver" Benefit last week.

Makeup artist Angela Levin took inspiration for Blake Lively's makeup look from the actress's Chanel diamond camelia brooch.

"I wanted her eyes to be dark and sexy, but the rest of her face to be light and fresh. She's young and sexy and wears a smoky eye so well!", says Levin.

To acheive that "light and fresh" look, Levin used Chanel Lift Lumiere Fluid Makeup in Beige ($65, chanel.com) all over her face, and set it with Poudre Cristalline Translucent Powder ($60, macys.com). On her cheeks she dusted on Chanel Blush Duo in Tweed Rose.

For her eyes, bronze and sand shade eyeshadows were used as well as a deep plum shade that added dimension in the crease.

Blake's eyes were lined on the upper and lower lashes with a black shimmer liner and three coats of mascara.

To finish the look, a soft pink lip was created with Chanel Rouge Allure in Mythic ($30, chanel.com), a fabulous nude shade, topped with a bit of Rouge Allure Laque in Ming ($32, nordstrom.com).

Let's face it, Lauren Conrad can rock a red lip. Celebrity makeup artist Amy Nadine gave Ms. Conrad an old-Hollywood look reminiscent of Lana Turner and Rita Hayworth that we can't help but love.

Amy used mark Drenched Moisturlicious Lip Color in Wave ($6, avon.com), but here are some more options for creating your own glamorous, retro-inspired look.

             paula_patton_2.jpg paulapatton.jpg

At the Keep a Child Alive Blackball Gala, many of Hollywood's humanitarians turned out to show their support. Elegance was an obvious theme, and Paula Patton's own elegant look really caught our attention.

Ursula Stephen, Celebrity Stylist for Motions hair products, created Paula's gorgeous pompadour-esque hairstyle, proving once again that red-carpet looks never have to break the bank. Here's the inside scoop on how this show-stopping style was created:

motionslightstylingfoam.jpg

Ursula applied a Motions Light Styling Foam ($5.99, amazon.com) all over Paula's hair, then blew it dry in an upward direction for volume.

Using a 1 1/4" curling iron, waves were created throughout her hair.

With a fine-toothed comb, emphasizing on the crown, Ursula teased the hair.

motionslightspritz.jpgUsing her fingers, Ursula gently pulled hair into a twist while keeping the sides smooth, without losing volume at the crown, and secured with small hair pins.

The look was finished with Motions Light Hold Working Spritz ($4.99, drugstore.com).

sjp-nyc.jpgWe recently discovered that Sarah Jessica Parker has a new fragrance in the works called SJP NYC, and we are beyond excited. It not only means the chance to add a new scent to our beloved collection, but also that we are so much closer to the 'Sex and the City' sequel.

Sarah Jessica Parker told Women's Wear Daily about her inspiration behind the new scent:

"A large part of the inspiration was what I now understand to be people's impressions of seeing Carrie Bradshaw walk down the street and what feelings that evokes for her and for them-- a real sense of freedom and possibilities, a love for the city around her and, of course, fashion. We started with this idea that we wanted to create something fun. We wanted to create a party in a bottle and reflect that in the packaging with a real sense of whimsy, fun and joie de vivre."

SJP NYC will first be released in Macy's February 2010. Then in May, to coincide with the release of the second 'Sex and the City' movie, the fragrance will expand its reach to an additional 1,500 department and specialty stores in the U.S., and to 16 countries.

Beyonce_Billboard_Awards.jpgBeyonce was honored last week as 'Woman of the Year' at Billboard's Women in Music awards. We were in awe of her glowing skin and overall makeup look, but it was her stand-out eyeshadow that we loved most. Makeup artist Jackie Gomez explains: "I loved the color of her dress so much so I wanted to mirror the effect that it had against her skin- the Cleo Duo Eyeshadow was perfect."

We think so, too.

kerry-washington.jpg

At the L'Oreal Paris Color of Hope event, we thought Kerry Washington's eye makeup really stood out-- in a good way. With gorgeous, indigo-liner and shadow, her eyes sparkled even more. Color is a great way to bring focus to your eyes, and you can do it with eyeshadows, liners, or a combo of both.

Tip: If you're wearing a bold shade on your eyes, add a sheer wash of bright color to your cheeks so you won't look washed-out.

Here are two products by L'Oreal we recommend to help you recreate the look:

l'oreal-wear-infinite-midnight-sky.jpg

Wear Infinite Single Eyeshadow in Midnight Sky-- $4.48, drugstore.com

l'oreal-navy-liner.jpg

Mila_Kunis2.jpgGorgeous high-end dress were all over the red carpet at this year's Primetime Emmys. When mixed with affordable hairstyles, it's a match made in style heaven. TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist, Mara Rozsak, did this when she created a look for actress Mila Kunis that was so affordable, we couldn't keep the details to ourselves. These are her stylist secrets on how she created the the sexy, budget-friendly look.

tresemme_anti_frizz_smoothing_creme.jpg

Apply TRESemmé Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Crème ($4.75, drugstore.com) to damp hair, part to one side, and blow dry with a medium-sized round brush (try Sephora Brand Medium Round Boar Brush, $16, sephora.com)

hot-tools-curling-iron-1-5.jpgCurl hair with a 1 1/4 inch barrel curling iron (We recommend this one by Hot Tools, $29.99, misikko.com) and spray entire head with TRESemmé Frizz Shield hairspray .

Pull hair into a low ponytail, and tie with an elastic leaving a small section of hair out on one side to frame the face.

Wrap a tiny section of hair around the elastic to hide the tie. Brush out curls with fingers and gently back comb for a messier texture.

tresemme_hair_spray.jpg

Spray all over with TRESemmé TRES Two Hair Spray ($4.75, drugstore.com) to keep the look in place all night.

ashley_greene.jpgAshley Greene worked the red carpet as the fashion correspondent for this year's MTV Video Music Awards. We think she did a great job, but of course we had to get the scoop on her glamorous hairstyle. Styled by Pantene Celebrity Stylist, Danilo, Ashley's long, wavy locks offered a retro feel with contemporary glamour.

Here's how you can recreate the look:

pantenerootliftergel.jpg

1. Starting on wet hair, Danilo sprayed the Pantene Pro-V Root Lifter Gel ($4.99, walgreens.com) on her crown to prime her hair for a voluminous shape on top.

We also recommend Oscar Blandi Volumizing Spray ($18, sephora.com) and Suave Professionals Volumizing Root Lifter Spray Gel ($2.99, drugstore.com)

PanteneRestorativesFrizzControlBalm.jpg

2. Since Ashley was stationed outside on the red carpet, Danilo combed through Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Frizz Control Ultra Smoothing Balm ($5.17, amazon.com) from the mid-shaft of her hair to the ends to keep it looking sleek and frizz-free despite the humidity.

Other frizz-controlling balms to try: PHYTO 'Phytodéfrisant' Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm ($26, nordstrom.com) and Carol's Daughter Hair Balm ($12, sephora.com)

3. After applying the balm, Danilo blow-dried her hair straight.

4. Danilo then pulled the top half of her hair back, using his classic French Lacing technique to give her healthy volume on top while leaving a dramatic side part for contrast.

5. He then used a large iron to create her loose flowing curls underneath, combing when necessary.

Pantene Pro-V Texture Hairspray.jpg

6. To hold the look in place, Danilo sprayed her hair with the Pantene Pro-V Texture Hairspray ($4.49, drugstore.com) for movable texture while she worked the carpet.

We also recommend: CHI Infra Texture Hair Spray ($12.99, target.com)

jordinsparks.jpg

American Idol winner and Mark Cosmetics rep (yes, she held parties and sold products!), Jordin Sparks, recently filmed the video for her latest single "SOS" (Let the Music Play). She is as gorgeous as ever, and her eyes definitely are the focus of this look.

custom pick eyeshadow.gifTo create it, Jordin's makeup artist, Myla, wanted the look to exude a "warm, nude effect". Myla used I-Mark Custom Pick Eye Shadow ($4.50, meetmark.com) in Magic from the lash, upward.

She then applied the the Custom Pick Eye Shadow in Nomadic on the inner corner of the eyes, with Tough Luxe Custom Pick Eye Shadow on the creases.

Eyemarker Color On Line.jpg

To finish it off, Eyemarker Color On Line ($5.50, meetmark.com) in Jet was applied on the top and bottom lash lines and blended well to avoid harsh lines. The look was finished by applying mark Scandalash Hook Up Mascara in Blacklash.

zoesaldana1.jpgStar Trek beauty Zoe Saldana always looks so fresh-faced and glowing without a hint of oily shine, we had to find out how she does it. Turns out, she picked up her favorite beauty tip on the set of one of her first movies, Crossroads (also starring Britney Spears): "Makeup artist, Kimberly Green, taught me that sometimes, instead of putting on more makeup, you can use blotting papers to take away shine."

We couldn't agree more. Adding makeup throughout the day not only can create a fake, cakey-looking complexion, but it can lead to clogged pores and unsightly blemishes. Try any of the following 3 brand's blotting papers, and continue to look shine-free sans added makeup.

macblotfilm.jpg

MAC Blot Film is made from a patented material that absorbs oil without disturbing makeup. We love that each is an extra large size, so one is enough for our whole face. 30 films. $12, nordstrom.com

thebodyshopblottingpapers.jpg

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Facial Botting Tissues remove excess oil and contain skin clarifying tea tree oil to aid in keeping skin blemish-free. 65 tissues. $10, thebodyshop-usa.com

cleanandclearoilabsorbingsheets.jpg

Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets are inexpensive, absorb oil, and leave your makeup looking fresh. 50 sheets. $5.29, drugstore.com

dita-von-teese2.jpgWhen it comes to retro-glamour and classic makeup looks, Dita Von Teese has made her mark in the beauty and fashion world. With her distinct style, the celeb has many wondering how she does it. We are here to share a few of her beauty secrets (which really aren't a secret since she did post these on her Twitter page).

lorealtruematchn1.jpg

When it comes to foundation, Dita isn't a snob. She loves using L'Oréal True Match in N1 ($10.95, drugstore.com).

mactheperfectcheek.jpg

To give her fair cheeks a flush of color, Dame and The Perfect Cheek both by MAC ($18.50, maccosmetics.com) are the ones she wears most.

macrubywoo.jpg

We all know Dita loves to rock a red pout, so what is her favorite shade? "...I like MAC Ruby Woo" ($14, maccosmetics.com).

essie_fishnet_stockings.jpg

In addition to her lips, red is her go-to shade for her nails. Essie's Fishnet Stockings ($8, nordstrom.com and MAC Rougemarie ($12, maccosmetics.com) are her top picks.

siennamiller2.jpg Frederic Fekkai's resident hair guru, Adir Abergel, gave Sienna Miller a very glamorous, old-Hollywood look a la Veronica Lake for her appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra. while the look was a throw-back, it still had softness and movement.

To get the look:

FEKKAI ZERO-HUMIDITY FRIZZ CONTROL.jpgFEKKAI BOUFFANT.jpg

Adir started by creating a very strong side part. He then applied Fekkai Zero-Humidity Frizz Control ($23, nordstrom.com) from the roots to ends. Next, he applied Fekkai Coiff Bouffant ($23, nordstrom.com) only at the roots to add a little body. Using a round brush, he dried her hair, creating the perfect texture.

hot_tools_curling_iron.jpg

Once the hair was completely dry, Adir took a 1 1/4" curling iron (We recommend Hot Tools Professional Ceramic Marcel Curling Iron, $39.95, folica.com) and curled her hair, and then pinned it in place. He did not curl the hair at the root, because he wanted the top of the hair to stay smooth and give the rest of the hair body.

After curling, he then let the hair cool down for 10 min and took out the pins. He brushed out the curls with the Classic Brush ($95, sephora.com) for the perfect smoothness, softness, and bounce.

fekkainonchalant.jpgFekkai Sheer Hold Spray.jpg

To finish this look he applied Fekkai Nonchalant Cream ($23, sephora.com) to top of her head, to smooth away all those tiny flyways, and added a little bit of Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray ($23, nordstrom.com) to lock in the style.

beyonce2.jpg kate-beckinsale.jpg

Full-volume looks are always great when it comes to making a statement. Celebs like Beyonce* and Kate Becksale* love to rock the "bump" style for everything from red carpet events to everyday outings. With this pumped-up style comes a tough reality that can damage hair: teasing.

Divado hair accessories are an alternative way to give your hair the lift for creating the look you want without the putting your hair through any added stress.

howto-brigitte1.jpg

 howto-audrey.jpg

Available in two styles, the Bridgette and the Audrey, Divado stays in place until you take it out and compfortable to wear. We find this item to be a bit funny looking, and were skeptical at first, but the results speak for themselves. We can create styles like our favorite celebs and know our tresses will love this better than being teased. from $25, divadohair.com

isla-fisher.jpgLooking for inspiration for a fun, yet classic look to wear for your next night out? We always love Isla Fisher's look, and were especially captivated when she attended the L.A. premiere of 'Bruno'-- we had to get the scoop on the Shopaholic star's flirty, retro look.

Makeup artist Mai Quynh wanted Isla's the makeup to complement her '60s-inspired Stella McCartney dress and bold accessories. To do so, she went heavy on the eye and left the rest of the face soft and glowing.

Get her look using products by mark:

mark-get-in-line-eyeliner.gif

"For Isla's eyes, I started by using mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eyeshadow in Corset, a rich charcoal color ($4.50, avon.com), applying it with an eyeliner brush," says Mai. She then smudged the same color along Isla's top and bottom lash lines, following it with mark Get in Line Hook Up Liquid Waterproof Eyeliner ($5.50, avon.com) along the upper lash line. She finished this with two coats of black mascara.

mark-plumping-gloss.gif

For the face, Mai used bronzing powder on the cheeks, forehead and chin; face shimmer above the cheekbones; and pink powder blush to the apples of her cheeks. mark Pro Gloss Hook Up Plumping Lip Shine in Swell, a sheer peach shade ($5.50, avon.com), finished the look.

kim kardashian at orphan premiere.jpgKim Kardashian rocked bright pink lips at the L.A. premiere of the horror flick 'Orphan', and we were loving the bold flash of color on an otherwise classic makeup look. Makeup artist Troy Jensen was responsible for creating the fun, and yet still sultry, look on the Keeping Up with the Kardashian's star.

nars lipstick schiap.jpg nars lip laquer hot wired.jpg
To create the lip look, Troy recommends defining lips with a deep pink lip liner. Follow that by applying a fuchsia lipstick, blot, then reapply. Keep it more matte (try Nars Semi-Matte Lipstick in Schiap ($24, sephora.com), or for high-voltage shine, top with a fuchsia lipgloss like Nars Lip Lacquer in Hot Wired ($24, beauty.com).

vanessa hudgens.jpgWhen it comes to summer hairstyles, effortless-looking styles are always the goal. Vanessa Hudgens' hair at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards was a great example of an I-didn't-try-too-hard style that works for all summer occasions. With tousled waves and smooth, side swept bangs, a style like this can be yours with a little help from the right tools and products.

peter lamas smoothing conditioner.jpg

Shampoo and condition hair with a smoothing formula. Try Peter Lamas Avocado Olive Ultra-Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner ($17.99 each, drugstore.com) for a sleek, no-frizz look.

peter lamas chinese herb mist.jpg

Spray damp hair at the roots with a volumizing mist to add body and shine (do this while your head is flipped over for added volume). Try Peter Lamas Chinese Herbs Revitalizing Nutrient Mist ($20, drugstore.com). If your hair is naturally curly, apply a straightening balm throughout the hair.

Blowdry your hair, using a round brush, concentrating mostly on the roots-- you want them to be smooth, but with volume. It's ok if the lower half stays damp, unless your hair is curly, then you will need to blow it out straight.

smooth n shine mousse.jpgOn damp hair, apply mousse to hair while tousling with hands. Try Smooth 'N Shine Curling Mousse, $2.99, folica.com. Let hair air dry or blowdry on a low setting with a diffuser. Using a large barrel curling iron, wrap various strands around the barrel for more defined waves.

If your hair is curly, after blowing out your hair, take your hair in sections, starting from the bottom first, wrapping, not clamping, the hair in 1 to 2 inch sections around a 2" curling iron. This will create a loose curl. Alternate the direction you wrap your hair to avoid a "too perfect" look.

Once finished, use fingers to loosen and tousle your hair. Spray with a shine enhancing product, then a finishing spray with hold. We like Herbal Essences new Tousle Me Softly Hairspray ($2.99, drugstores) because it offers the perfect, flexible hold.

Rose Byrne2.jpg dr brandt pores no more.jpg

The weather is heating up, and while you may be feeling the need to leave your foundation behind, you still want a glowing complexion, right? We love Rose Byrne's glowing look, and think something like Dr. Brandt's Pores No More would do the trick. This luminating primer glides on smoothly, helps to fill in pores and keeps skin clear with breakout-fighting tea tree oil. The best part about this primer is how it also imparts a translucent veil of tint, meaning you won't need foundation. If you do have any unsightly spots or blemishes you'd like to cover, use a concealer after applying the primer. $45, sephora.com

Q. Is there any way that someone could tell me the brand and name of the nail polish that Ginnifer Goodwin was wearing in the movie He's Just Not That Into You. Thought you would be able to help us!!!

A. Makeup artist Tina Roesler Kerwin used Pasadena Purple from the toxin-free brand Nubar. A pretty polish that's in hot demand since the movie came out!

ginnifer_nails.jpg

We loved the Oscars this year, and most of the beauty looks didn't let us down. Fabulous fresh skin and gorgeous makeup caught our attention, while hairstyles ranging from updos and hair half up and half down, to cascading curls and loose waves gave us a reason to keep watching.

Oscar Night HairTrend #1: Updos

diane lane oscars 2009 2.jpgLooking just as classy as she is beautiful, Diane Lane wowed us with her unfussy updo. We loved her timeless makeup that had a touch of shimmer on the eyes and her orange-red stained lips added just the right amount of color to compliment her black dress.

natalie portman oscars 2.jpgNatalie Portman looked so incredible it was hard not to stare. Her hair was done in a classic updo and her makeup looked flawless with highlighted cheeks, soft smokey eyes and glossy, rosy-pink lips.

amy adams oscars 2.jpgLooking stunning in her red gown, Amy Adams opted to wear her updo at the nape of her neck in an asymmetrical fashion. With a smoky eye created with browns and purples, flawless skin and pink lips, we also love how her stunning necklace gave her face a glow.

freida pinto oscars 2009 2.jpgFreida Pinto never disappoints us. We love her soft updo that complemented her one-armed gown (although we just could bring ourselves to love the gown, she still looked stunning). Her makeup, as always, looked amazing and because she's such a natural beauty, minimal makeup was used. Soft liner and shadow, blush to add a bit of color and a matte pink color on the lip.

kate winslet oscars 2009.jpgKate Winslet didn't wow us with her gown, but we were in love with her dynamic and modern hairstyle. Created to be reminiscent of Grace Kelly, the now Oscar-winning actress's makeup complimented the hairstyle with a classic and natural look.

Oscar Night Hair Trend #2: Half Up/Half Down

jessica_biel_oscars_2009.jpgJessica Biel is a beautiful starlet who unfortunately didn't make our best-dressed list. We were happy to see that, thankfully, her hair and makeup look fabulous-- she wore her hair in a soft, wavy 'do and kept her makeup look all about great skin, neutral eyes and a pink lip.

angelina_jolie_oscars_3.jpgAngelina Jolie is stunning, yes we know. But until Sunday night, we had been let down by the Changling star in the hair and wardrobe department. She must have been on to us because she stunned us with her gorgeous cat eye, glowing skin, and glossy pink lip-- wow!

melissa george oscars 2009.jpgMelissa George was nothing short of gorgeous in the hair and makeup department. With loosely curled tresses pulled half up, she looked simply angelic and luminescent.

.

samantha harris oscars 2009.jpgDancing With The Stars co-host Samantha Harris looked fierce in an electric blue one-shoulder gown. What we love most is her choice to pair it soft makeup consisting of browns and pinks and a loose half-up hairstyle to keep her from looking too overdone.

Oscar Night Hiar Trend #3: Hair Down

Amanda Seyfied is another actress who didn't get our vote in the fashion department, but took home a prize in the beauty category. Along with her hair styled in long loose waves, Amanda kept her look modern and youthful with a soft smokey eye-- a fine liner between lightly smudged eyeshadow and bare-looking lashes-- and a sheer crimson lip to finish off the look.

jennifer aniston oscars 2009 2.jpgJennifer Aniston didn't walk the red carpet, but her look still caught our attention. We love her cheery beach-worthy look complete with a French braid to hold the front of her hair back. Her makeup was complementing as well- very dewy skin, peachy-pink cheeks and light pink lips.

taraji p henson oscars 2.jpgWe love the necklace Taraji P. Hensen wore on Oscar Sunday-- it really lit up her face. Add to that her great layered bob (blown out smooth and given some added texture to make it a little more edgy for the big night), a fabulous smudged out liner, a bronzy-pink blusher on the cheeks and sheer pink gloss on the lips and we say it's a recipe for beauty success.

Thakoon

Lead makeup artist Diane Kendal says of this look, "It's is all about the eyes with soft matte lips for contrast." Jessica-Stroup3.gif It's a bit chilly in New York, but that doesn't mean stars look any less hot when they attend shows at the Tents for Fashion Week. Take 90210 star Jessica Stroup, who, despite the bitter cold, heated up the room at every show she attended. Want the scoop on how her smoldering look was created? Of course you you do-- that's why you're here!

theBalm makeup artist, Felicia Roman wanted to keep all attention on Jessica's bright blue eyes, so she went dramatic with the lids and kept the rest of the star's face simple.

Here's the step-by-step:

thebalm pick up liners.jpg1.) Felicia started by using the Pick-Up-Liners pencil in Don Juan (three in a set, $19, sephora.com) to smudge a line around the lashes and in a thicker line covering most of the bottom part of the lid to achieve smoky definition. Because the Pick Up Liners are half the size of a typical pencil, Felicia was able to get up close and really push the liner into the base of the lashes with perfect precision.

thebalm shady lady.jpg thebalm overshadow.jpg2.) Felicia dabbed Lucious Lani eyeshadow (the champagne shade from the ShadyLady Eye Shadow Palette, $38, sephora.com ) across the lid to highlight the symmetrical shape of her face and then finished it off with a light dusting of the sheer 100% mineral Overshadows in You Buy, I'll Fly (a copper shimmer, $15, sephora.com) to make Stroup's eyes really pop. It was also blended into the lower lash line over the pencil for an ethereal finish. thebalm two-timer mascara.jpg

The lashes were defined and volumized with 3 coats of Two Timer Mascara ($20, sephora.com); two coats to instantly build fuller lashes and a third to separate and lengthen.

balmshelter tinted moisturizer.jpg

timebalm concealer.jpg3.) When it came to the skin, Felicia evened out and smoothed Jessica's skin by blending BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer ($25, sephora.com) with TimeBalm Concealer ($18, sephora.com). Becaue the TimeBalm Concealer has time released hydrating properties, there was no need to reapply between shows- Jessica's under eye area stayed bright all day.

the balm sexy mama powder.jpg

bahama mama bronzer.jpg hot mama blush.jpgA few swipes of SexyMama translucent powder ($19, sephora.com) gave a photo-finish, and then a combo of the matte Bahama Mama bronzer ($19, sephora.com) with the more shimmering berry-toned Hot Mama blush ($19, sephora.com) gave a healthy glow to Jessica's cheeks.

thebalm to the rescue.jpg balmshelter gloss.jpg4.) Finally, Felicia conditioned and nourished Stroup's lips with theBalm to the Rescue ($16, sephora.com), and topped them off with either BalmShelter Lip Gloss in Girly-Girl (for a pinky-coral finish, $19, sephora.com) or Plump Your Pucker in Cocoa My Coconut (a warm nude, $15, sephora.com) to add some shimmer. Jessica LOVED the yummy flavors of the glosses, especially Cocoa My Coconut which she wore at the Jill Stuart show.

hilary duff red heart truth.jpgHilary Duff was our pick for best dressed at Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection fashion show last week, and her messy updo really complimented her stunning gown. With a bit of a jagged part, dark roots and a few flyaways, her hair still looked amazing.

fekkai lifting & texturizing spray.jpgTo achieve this "controlled mess", it's important to prep hair with texturizer before blowing it out with a round brush (try Fekkai Coif Bouffant Lifting and Texturizing Spray Gel, $23, nordstrom.com). Next, flip dry hair up and down (this adds body), then pull it back into a loose bun. When your hair is secure, finish the look by pulling a few wisps out by your ears.

The 2009 SAG Awards are one of our favorite award shows simply because it's a bit more relaxed and actors are given the opportunity to award their fellow actors. Of course, as always, we love to "ooh" and "ahh" at the gorgeous makeup and hair. This year we saw everything from beautiful updos to long, loose waves; curled tresses and flowy straight manes. We saw red lips and eyes decked out in icy shadows (eyeshadows, that is), and we loved every minute of it. Check out our favorites.

anne hathaway sag awards 2009 2.jpg

Anne Hathaway enchanted us with a lush lash look that complimented her glossy berry stained lip. We loved her loosley tousled hair that not only screams chic, but carefree at the same time.

january jones sag awards 2009 2.jpg

January Jones caught our attention, as always, with a fresh look that was both romantic and bold. With makeup to compliment her natural beauty, hairstylist Mark Townsend continued that theme by creating soft yet modern waves on the Mad Men star.

julia ormond sag awards 2009 2.jpg

Julia Ormond glowed with radiant skin and shiny hair. We love how her full brows and big lashes made her green eyes really pop, while a soft glossy pink lip and glowing cheeks kept her look fresh.

Taraji P. Henson wowed us again with shimmery, defined eyes and a glossy lip. And while her hair may be cut in a classic bob, we love the high shine added to keep the glamour quotient at maximum levels.

kate winslet sag awards 2009 2.jpg

Kate Winslet is a red carpet goddess this award season, and here is another example of why. A great side-swept updo kept her looking sophisticated while shimmery eye makeup and a neutral palette of soft pinks on her cheeks and lips added just the right amount of glamour.

jennifer morrison sag awards 2009 2.jpg

Jennifer Morrison never disappoints us when it comes to the red carpet. The House star's look had an ethereal quality with loose waves and luminous makeup. Bronze and pink tones kept the look light and airy and really complimeted her white gown.

viola davis sag awards 2009 2.jpg

Viola Davis was the picture of glamour at the evening's festivities. With soft curls framing her face, and subtle yet flattering makeup complimenting her skin, we were in awe of her fabulous glow.

freida pinto sag awards 2009 2.jpgThe gorgeous Freida Pinto captivated our attention with her classic updo and flawless skin. We love the use of blue and violet toned eyeshadows to help frame her black-rimmed eyes while a rasberry hue gave her lips their glossy finish.

jenna fischer at golden globes.png jenna fischer golden globes2.jpg

Jenna Fischer
, who plays our favorite secretary on the hit series The Office, looked beautiful at the Golden Globes. We were mesmerized by her flawless look, and her makeup complemented her dress so well. So, just how did she get this look? We did some digging to bring you the beauty scoop.

Makeup artist Brett Freedman played up the Jenna's look by extending the eyeliner on her eyes and created a more vivid, "out of the box glam" for the usually subtle Jenna using the following products:

Foundation: LORAC Oil Free Powder Foundation in #02 (light), $35, sephora.com

Loose Powder: Magic by Prescriptives in Deep Translucent. Brett says, "This product has a gorgeous light reflective quality with a hint of bronze, so it photographs beautifully." $35, nordstrom.com

Concealer: Cle De Peau Concealer in Beige.$85, cosmeticmall.com

Blush: Almay Smart Shade Blush in Natural, $5.39, drugstore.com, topped with LORAC Oil Free Illuminating Powder in Luminous on apples of the cheeks. $32, beauty.com

Eyeshadow: RIMMEL Colour Rush Mono Eyeshadow in #330 Azure, applied wet and swept over lids and blended down to a sheer finish.

Liquid Liner: LANCOME La Laque Liner in Pure Black, applied in a line across the top lash line, thickening and extending out and upward for a dramatic look. $25, nordstrom.com

Brow Highlight Shadow: LOREAL HiP pigment powder in Restless. Brett says, "I love a bright, crisp browbone. This champagne hued shadow looks natural yet packs a punch." $12, drugstore.com

Mascara: VANITYMARK 'the LASH' in Blackest. Three coats were applied to really amp up the top lashline. One full coat on the bottom to give eyes definition without overpowering the top lash line. $16, vanitymark.com

Faux Lashes: Kre-At Beauty individual lashes. A mix of the short (on the inner eye) and the long (for outer) in black were used to give an alluring sweep.

Body Bronzer: VANITYMARK Summerskin, applied first to 'tone down' the tawny shade so Jenna would have a healthy glow without being too tan. Brett says, "When you're showing that much flesh it's good to have a nice lift of color."  $14, vanitymark.com

Lips: BENEFIT Pocket Pal in Benetint, $20, sephora.com

The Golden Globes was a night of gorgeous gowns and beautiful hair and makeup looks. Most of our favorite celebrities showed up and wowed us. Unfortunately, some of them didn't. Take a look at our favorite and not so favorite looks of the big night.

Our Favorites:

Maria Menounos golden globes2.jpg

Maria Menounos looked gorgeous as always. We love the romantic updo and soft makup that ony helped to compliment her one-shoulder royal blue gown.

kate beckinsale golden globes2.jpg

Kate Beckinsale never dissapoints us when it comes to red-carpet looks. At the Golden Globes she opted for a sleek updo and dewy skin. Bold earrings really helped add a strong, yet polished statement.

Beyonce golden globes2.jpg

Beyonce isn't one to shy away from trying bold looks, but we were happy to see her looking more refined at this event. Soft grey smokey eyes, a pale shiny lip, and a polished low ponytail brought this very beautiful look together.

Kristen Scott Thomas golden globes2.jpg

Kristen Scott Thomas was the picture of glamour and elegance on Sunday night. We couldn't help but be in awe of her glowing skin. Nothing overdone, just sheer and pretty.

olivia wilde golden globes2.jpg

Olivia Wilde looked fabulous in her strapless lilac gown, and instead of going the updo route, chose to wear her hair down. Thankfully, the Golden Globes aren't a stuffy event, so it worked. Lightly smudged eye makeup, pink cheeks and pale pink lips make this star look cool and comfortable under the heat of the sun.

isla fisher golden globes2.jpgIsla Fisher glowed in neutral pink and brown makeup tones. But while this makeup made the Confessions of a Shopaholic star look gorgeous, we could only covet her shiny hair! It seemed to be the focal point of her look as her dress was also neutral. Wow...

jennifer morrison golden globes2.jpg

Jennifer Morrison had all eyes on her as she walked the red carpet in her breath-taking blue gown. Of course our eyes were on her hair and makeup: icy metallic-rimmed eyes, peachy-pink cheeks and lips, not to mention glowing skin. Could she look any better?

Our Not-So-Favorites:

Renee Zellweger golden globes2.jpg

Renee Zellweger could have knocked her look out of the park had it not been for her over-done hair. We were disappointed, of course, to see one of our favorite stars not looking her best. At least this is only the start of award season. She'll have many more chances to wow us in the coming weeks.

Drew Barrymore golden globes2.jpg

Drew Barrymore has shown us many looks in the past. Some have been good, some not, and this has definitely landed on the latter list. We love the idea of a bombshell 'do Drew was going for, but somehow the finished look didn't work for us, though we know many people loved her look.

Angelina Jolie golden globes2.jpg

Angelina Jolie didn't seem too into the night's event, and it showed. Her look, to us, fell flat. We're sure she would much rather have been home with her kids than attending yet another red-carpet function, so we hold nothing against her for that.

Blake Lively golden globes2.jpg

Blake Lively arrived at the Golden Globes in a fabulous blue gown, and her makeup was stunning, but we didn't really care for the under-done look of her hair. Don't get us wrong, loose waves are always a do, but this style just missed the mark.

Megan Fox golden globes2.jpgMegan Fox is one actress we feel has many missteps on the red carpet. Her gold gown is beyond flattering, and her makeup is flawless, but, like the other starlets on our not-so-favorite list, she threw it off with her hairstyle. The bun is just too tight. We would have preferred to see her hair in a looser style. Oh well, maybe next time.

january jones at golden globes.jpg Freida Pinto at golden globes.jpg

January Jones and Freida Pinto looked amazing at this weekend's Golden Globe Awards. Although January went for an old Hollywood look and Freida opted for a more sunkissed glow, both looked gorgeous, and we were in awe of their flawless looks.

To create the glamorous eye look on January Jones, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin used Chanel Automatic Liquid Eye Liner in Brun along the upper lid extending out to the edge of the brow. $34, nordstrom.com

January's tangerine-red lip was acheived using Chanel Rouge Allure in Dazzling, $30, nordstrom.com

For Freida's sunkissed look, makeup artist Jeffery Paul mixed together a foundation and concealer, only using it where it was needed. He then used Jouer Creme Highlighter on her cheeks to bring out her natural definition. $20, jouercosmetics.com

For a pretty pink that accentuated Frieda's natural lip color, Jeffery used Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Monsoon, $20, jouercosmetics.com

heidi klum victoria's secret party2.jpgEarlier this month, Heidi Klum showed up at the Victoria's Secret Lexington Avenue Flagship Store Opening Party not only with a new haircut (we love it!), but with stunning, defined eyes and bold lipcolor.

To create Heidi's thick-lash look, celebrity makeup artist Linda Hay used as many short individual lashes as possible on both the top and bottom lashlines. "I then applied a very fine line of Victoria's Secret Glitter Eyeliner in Licorice and liberal quantities of High Definition mascara from Victoria's Secret."

Hay calls the combination of a strong, defined brow, individual lashes and berry stain on the lips "super striking" on Heidi. We think this look is a perfect balance of naughty and nice, not to mention it makes her look amazing!

Victoria's Secret High Definition mascara, $12, victoriassecret.com

Heidi Klum Collection Glitter Liquid Liner, $10, victoriassecret.com

Scarlett Johansson1.jpgScarlett Johansson and the stars of the new movie The Spirit have been quite busy promoting the movie all over Europe for the past week or so. At the London premiere, Scarlett looked primed and ready for spring in a gorgeous floral print dress and soft, pretty makeup to complement it.

For a look like hers, we decided to put together a list of products to help you create a similar using the line that Scarlett is a spokesmodel for: L'Oreal. Not only does the brand produce fabulous products, but they are all priced to be wallet-friendly!

l'oreal color juice stick mango tango.jpg

Color Juice Stick in a mauve-pink tone like Mango Tango will give your lips beautiful sheer lipcolor that feels like a lipstick but has the shine of a gloss. $9.50, drugstore.com

l'oreal bare naturale pinched pink.jpg

Bare Naturale Blush in a color like Bare Honey will add a perfect warm "flushed" tone to your cheeks that isn't too overdone for the soft look you might want to achieve. $15.25, drugstore.com

l'oreal wear infinite duos mocha buff.jpg

Wear Infinite Eyshadow Duo in Mocha Buff contains a light pearly shade that will help make eyes pop! We love the smooth application and the long-lasting wear that this eyeshadow gives. $5.25, drugstore.com

  loreal telescopic liquid eyeliner.jpg

Telescopic Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black is the perfect way to create that timeless cat-eye look. $9.99, drugstore.com

l'oreal double extend beauty tubes mascara.jpg

Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara in Black finishes the look by creating dramatic, look-at-me lashes. This new mascara has become one of our favorites. $10.95 drugstore.com

reese witherspoon at cmas.jpgWe have heard so many great things about the new David Babaii for WildAid haircare line, that we can't wait to try it out ourselves! Fortunately, we can already see at least one product gives great results.

Reese Witherspoon wore a fabulous mane of waves at the CMA Awards thanks to hairstylist David Babaii himself. Using David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray, he sprayed and scrunched the product into her hair giving it the right texture and movement.

Only using a blowdryer and his hands, David "rough dried" Reese's hair, and as he described it, "moved the hair in various directions until it was dry."

david babiaii for wildaid beach spray.jpg

To get Reese's hair to look perfectly tousled, Babaii also made partial waves with a curling iron. "I wrapped small sections around the curling iron barrel, leaving the ends free. When the whole head was done, I ran my fingers through her strands to get a dramatic wild finish," he says.

David Babaii for WildAid Bohemian Beach Spray, $12, drugstore.com

charlize_theron.jpgThe holidays are upon us, and you may have a party or two to attend. Look to the red carpet for ideas on how to create your holiday look.

We were inspired by Charlize Theron's elegant, yet strong, look (created by Dior makeup artist Shane Paish) at last month's Rock the Kasbah event, we had to find out how it was done!

dior airflash foundation.jpg

Shane used Dior Airflash Spray Foundation to create the base of the look.  This spray foundation will change the way you makeup your face. The fine texture creates a soft radiance that will leave you looking flawless and glowing. $60, dillards.com

dior 5-color eyeshadow.jpg

Using Dior 5-Colour Eye Shadow  (Paish used Elegante), he added drama and color to her eyes. We love eyeshadow palettes like this one because there are so many options! Use the lighter shades for day and add the darker shades to turn the drama up a notch for night! $54, dillards.com

dior crayon eyeliner.jpg

Dior Crayon Eyeliner in Black along lash line added just the right amount of definition to her eyes. We love pencil eyeliners because, unlike a liquid liner, they allow for so much control and are great if you have little experience with using eyeliner. This one also includes a smudger for softening the line and creating a more smoky result. $25, sephora.com

diorshow unlimited mascara.jpg

Paish used DiorShow Unlimited Mascara in Black to complete the eye look. When it comes to eye makeup, we all agree that mascara is the must-have product! DiorShow Unlimited will give your lashes a look-at-me, long-lash effect with its dual-sided brush. $24, sephora.com

dior pro cheeks.jpg

Dior Backstage Pro Cheeks in Hip Peach gave Ms.Theron her perfectly glowing cheeks. This cream formula blush creates natural-looking, long-lasting color and blends to a sheer, beautiful finish. $30, nordstrom.com

dior addict high shine lipstick.jpg

Dior High Shine Lipstick was the final complement for this elegant look. This designed-for-the-runway lipstick is ultra-glossy and long-wearing, making it a great choice if you want to try a lipstick but usually opt for a gloss. $25, dillards.com

Global Goddess Beauty South Pacific Shimmer is not only a favorite of celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker, but it's one of our favorite products too! Of course we know we aren't as well-known around the world, or even recognizable out in public by those who don't know us, but we can appreciate the fact that we share the same great taste!

south pacific shimmer.gif

This multi-tasking bronzer features three hues of bronze and a soft dose of shimmer to illuminate and enhance the complexion, and is packaged in a slim, mirrored compact (say yes to purse-friendliness!). The pressed powder is ideal for complimenting a natural tan or creating a warmer tone in paler complexions.   terry_seymour_opt[1].jpgTerri Seymour looked so amazing at the 30th anniversary Carousel of Hope Ball a couple of weekends ago, we couldn't help but be a little envious of her flawless-looking skin and luminous glow! We had to get the inside scoop for you on how to achieve this look:

Makeup artist Melissa Walsh used products by Hourglass Cosmetics to achieve Terri's beautiful look:

Veil Fluid Makeup Oil Free SPF 15 gave Terri a flawless complexion while it also treated it with collagen-building ingredients to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. We love the pump-style tube that keeps our makeup fresh and free from bacteria. $60, sephora.com

hourglass invisible powder.jpg

Veil Invisible Powder was used to set the foundation while adding a natural, bright glow. This sheer powder helps keep makeup looking amazing all day and is fabulous for any skintone- it has quickly become one of our favorite products! $32, sephora.com

The Color Link Palette in Dusk was used to give Terri's eyes an added a pop of dark shimmer (don't they look amazing?). This palette features six eye colors and two blushes, making it a great tool that we love to use for creating a plethora of makeup looks. $75, sephora.com

jennifer connelly.jpgEyebrows like Jennifer Connelly are the perfect example of how arches have an effect on the rest of the face.

You can define your brows easily by coloring them in with an eyebrow pencil or powder. Using light strokes, fill in the sparse areas of the brow with the pencil or a brow brush. Make the brows look natural by combing through them to distribute the color evenly.

Anastasia All About Brows Kit contains everything you need to create your perfect face-framing brows. This set includes Tweezers, Brow Powder Duo, four Brow Stencils, Duo Angle/Spooley Brush, Brow Gel, and an Eye Lights highlighting pencil. Everything in this kit works wonderfully, and the instructions are so easy to follow. Not sure which color to choose? We find the Medium Ash works on all skintones. $75, sephora.com

Vanessa Scali, who created the look for America Ferrera, decided on a timeless, sophisticated look inspired by the 50's: an Audrey Hepburn eye, a Vargas mouth and a sheer, radiant face to keep the look modern. All of these elements really helped to enhance the Ugly Betty star's natural beauty.

Vanessa shared with us her step-by-step routine that helped give America her beautiful look:

Foundation/Concealer:

nars balanced foundation fiji.jpg"I like the skin to look flawless but real so I always use foundations and concealers sparingly. That said, I prefer spot coverage for foundation. On America, I used NARS Balanced Foundation ($41) in Fiji and Barcelona (I mixed two colors for the prefect match). I use a brush to apply it to the areas that need it and then I blend it in with my fingers. Using your fingers heats the product just a bit and leaves a seamless finish.

nars concealer.jpg Then I applied NARS Concealer ($21) under the eyes where necessary."

Contouring:

nars bronzing powder casino.jpg"I used NARS Bronzing Powder ($29) in Casino to contour her cheekbones and accentuate her bone structure."

Cheeks:

nars multiple portofino.jpg"For extra staying power I used a combination of NARS cream and powder blush. This will make your blush last longer and require fewer touchups. First, I applied NARS The Multiple Stick ($37) in Portofino to the apples of the cheeks. Cream formulas are my favorite. They are the easiest to blend and leave the most natural finish.

nars blush orgasm.jpgThen after I used a touch of NARS translucent powder and then I applied NARS Blush ($25) in Orgasm. The combination gave her face a touch of color and a subtle shimmer that left her looking radiant - not made up."

Eyes:

nars all about eve duo.jpg"The eye is sophisticated yet innocent. First I used the NARS Multiple Stick in Copacabana all over the eye lid. Followed by the right hand color in the All About Eve Eyeshadow duo ($32) all over the eye and under the bottom lashes. This layering help gives staying power.

nars mascara.jpgNext, I lined inside the NARS Eyeliner Pencil ($20) in Iceberg (white) to make them look bigger and I lined her eyes (upper lid only) with the NARS Eyeliner Pencil in Moon Black. Because mascara and lashes were very important to define the eye, I curled them and gave them several coats of NARS mascara ($23) in Black Orchid."

Eyebrows:

nars eyebrow pencil ipanema.jpg

"I used NARS Brow Pencil ($19) in Ipanema brow pencil to fill in as needed."

Lips:

"The lips are bold and semi-matte. I used NARS Semi-Matte Lipstick ($24) in Scarlet Empress."

Makeup artist Tina Turnbow was inspired by Mary-Louse Parker's dress, shoes and personal style when she created  this fresh, luminous and femnine look for the actress.

We asked Tina to share with us what products she used and why, and this is what she told us:

sabrina lip balm.jpg

I used an oil-free moisturizer, eye gel and the NARS Sabrina Lip Balm ($23) to prep the skin for the makeup.

nars balanced foundation mont blanc.jpg

I started with NARS Balanced Foundation ($41) in Mont Blanc, then applied NARS Concealer ($21) and followed it with NARS Pressed Powder ($29) in Snow. I also applied some of the NARS Foundation Powder ($45) in Mont Blanc to the chest area. We wanted her skin to have a luminous glow. She's so fair and her skin has a very delicate, ivory quality about it that is so pretty.

nars lipliner pencil, funny face.jpg

I have given her a beautiful hot pink lip using NARS Lipliner Pencil ($20) in Funny Face. After I lined and filled in the lips, I blotted and added a hint of powder to set the lipliner. You can use your finger or a Q-tip to achieve this look. Blotting the lips after applying the lipliner created a gorgeous softness to the lips. I wanted most of the color in the center of the lips.

nars blush desire.jpg

For her cheeks, I used NARS Blush ($25) in Desire and applied it the apple of the cheek. I then used the NARS Blush Brush ($46) to soften the edges of the blush.

nars duo eyeshadow violetta.jpg

For her eyes I used NARS single shadow ($22) in Tibet and for the crease I used the Duo Eyeshadow ($32) in Violetta.

I also used the Eyeliner Pencil ($20) in London on the upper lash and smudged it out to create a soft cat eye. I finished the look using NARS Mascara ($23) in Black Orchid WTPR.

Mary-Kate Olsen really has her messy-on-purpose hairstyles down. We can't help but admire her bohemian-chic, I-didn't-take-any-time-to-do-my-hair-today styles. If this is a look you've been wanting to try, consider these tips before you attempt them.

Try a messy style a day after washing. Super clean hair may require the use of more product that can lead to product overload, thus creating a weighed down or greasy look.

Leave your brush alone. Styles like these require the use of fingers only...remember, the style should look like you spent five minutes on it, not five hours.

For super straight hair: Try braiding your hair loosely the night before with slightly damp hair and a light holding styling product to add loose waves to your hair. Try using a product like Frederic Fekkai Wave Spray, $20

For natural wavy or curly hair: Define existing waves and curls using product on damp hair. Try Terax Styling Gel, $12

Practice creating the messy look. Like all hairstyles, they too require a bit of practice before they look "perfect" (but you know, not perfect).

The MTV Video Music Awards were held this past weekend, and there were many performances and surprises. Of course, being the beauty lovers that we are, we just couldn't keep our eyes off the hair and makeup the stars wore as they came down the red carpet.

l'oreal studio line glossing creme.jpg

Lindsay Lohan looked fresh and youthful with her hair worn in loose waves-- we love the strawberry-blonde! She kept the liner more heavy on the top of her lids, giving the illusion of thicker lashes. Flawless skin and a pale lip really kept her face in balance and made her look radiant.

To keep your waves frizz-free like Lindsay's, try L'Oreal Studio Line Smoothness Glossing Creme, $4.99

tarte blue nude.jpg

Rihanna took a new risk with her hairstyle, adding a bit of blue and blonde streaks to it. She also decided to use a blue liner to line the bottom of her eyes, while keeping her lids more pale. Again, we see a pale lip, but this time it's done with a more glossy finish.

Make your eyes pop like Rihanna's! Try Tarte Eyeliner in Blue Nude, $18

abba pure shine spray.jpg

Ashlee Simpson wore her typical heavy liner, but adding teal blue into the mix really added something extra and made her eyes pop. Her hair was worn with shiny long layers, creating a more sophisticated look.

To add shine, like Ashlee's, to your own locks, try ABBA Pure Shine Spray, $18

Lauren Conrad's hair is truly our favorite of the night. The braided updo looked nothing short of effortless and chic. With the focus on her eyes, her pink cheeks and pearly-pink lips really gave her a soft and ultra-femine look.

For Lauren's soft, radiant look, try Clinique Allover Colour, $29.50

Oscar Beauties, The Best of the Red Carpet Looks

oscar_beauties.jpgThere were plenty of head-turners at last night's Academy Awards, but these three were head, shoulders and eyelashes above the rest.

Jennifer Garner sported a gorgeous girl-next-door-goes-glam look with her messy updo, loose side-parted bangs, strong eyes and pale lips. She managed to look sexy, yet fresh without appearing as if she tried too hard.

Katherine Heigl opted for a retro bombshell look with Marilyn Monroe-esque hair and a strong red lip to match her stunning red dress. Flawless skin and lush lashes completed the look.

As for Penelope Cruz, is it just us or is this the best she has ever looked? Her sleek half-up/half-down 'do and sultry smoky eye showed off her unique features to their fullest. Sophisticated, timeless and beautiful.
